Hey ho hey ho!!!

According to DS and the Sun, The Crystal Maze is set to be revived by ITV!!! With Amanda Holden Rolling Eyes as host!! With celebs rather than actual people Rolling Eyes !! But still, better than nothing!! It will surpass the old Crystal Maze!!!! Only rumours though - rumours were rife just over a year ago when Russell Brand was about to present a new version of the maze but that never seemed to happen. Hopefully, these new rumours will become true!!! But it would be better if:-

Arrow Normal punters were the contestants
Arrow Richard O'Brien was back as presenter, or Ed

Anyway, The Krypton Factor revival has been pretty good so far so why not this??

... because it's hosted by Amanda Holden and is yet another celeb filled game show! Nothing would indeed be better.

Thankfully though if you actually read beyond the headline it seems to be a Crystal Maze style show under consideration, not the Crystal Maze itself.

I'll believe it when I see it. Can't imagine it'll be as grand as the original whatever the case.

So we're taking this piece of news from a rag sheet and a website that takes days to catch up with every other news site? Last week they created a gaming article based on a magazine interview from 2 months prior! They've become really shocking as of late...

As for this 'news', which isn't even official... it's not The Crystal Maze, it just wont be... it'll be something attempting and failing to be The Crystal Maze, cause noone has the budget to pull something off like that nowadays in this country. An entire airhanger converted into a TV studio that intertwines between 4 areas?

No chance in hell...

...besides, if it ain't Richard, it'll be slated.

Anyway it cannot be true since Chatsworth Television do not make television programmes anymore since they do not exist.

That doesn't stop a programme being made as long the production company making it has the rights. Anyway the article gives it away in the first paragraph that this show will be based on the Crystal Maze, Jungle Run was based on the Crystal Maze and for a kids show that wasn't a half bad programme - excluding the occasion Keith Chegwin made an adult version Shocked !!

If they do make it it will be a pale imitation, much like Sky's resurrection of Gladiators which was confined to a studio rather than the NEC in Birmingham.

Richard O'Brien is approaching 70 years old.

There's a few things I'd like to see on TV - an old man running round a warehouse isn't one of them.

Not a surprise this is being touted, given the success of the Cube.

But Amanda Holden? Really?

I'm struggling to think of anything she's good at.

Anything you could broadcast, that is.

They've stopped trading, but some entity will own their intellectual rights and archive, whether that's another organisation who bought them or some other company that manages those rights on behalf of Malcolm Heyworth who ran the company.

Besides The Crystal Maze wasn't entirely original, it was essentially a version of Fort Boyard. In fact Chatsworth's 3 big programmes: Treasure hunt, Crystal Maze and Interceptor were formats devised by Boyard creator Jacques Antoine

You need someone with a bit of eccentricity to host. Any ordinary presenter and it would die on it's backside.

Indeed, Channel 4 originally commissioned 'Fort Boyard' back in 1990 but as it became clear that the restoration of the Fort in France would not be complete by the time of delievery for the pilot they looked to Jacques Antoine for a similar format - The Crystal Maze.

Well only if its done in the same off-the-wall way Crystal Maze was. Otherwise you're looking at a selection of physical and mental challenges held together with the usual suspense-laden contestant and host waffle we've seen on the Cube, Golden Balls and Colour of Money. With an audience?

I suspect it will look more similar to those shows than the Crystal Maze we remember. Except they may buy the rights to some of the CM games - if they can't think up some of their own.
