Wasn't the cup of tea spoof on Maid Marrian & Her Merry Men? I remember they had an episode which was mostly a parody of the Crystal Maze, it was really funny.

Initially he just said "let the fans begin" (or something similar) just like Richard but then made his own phrase as he got more into it "Let the North winds blow!!" was the one he loved most.

I think the standard phrase was 'start the fans please'. During the first couple of series I was still quite young and when he said that I thought he was actually instructing the contestants to turn on some fans inside the dome (I actually pictured ordinary oscillating desk fans for some reason). I always wondered who turned on the fans of any missing contestants that didn't go to the dome!

Yeah, it was "Start the fans please" - a phrase which still lives on in the games on Soccer AM!

I loved the Crystal Maze. Absolutely blinding show - proves the quality that British TV can have if the programme makers really put their hearts into it (instead of doing what they usually do and scraping cheesy cuttings off the entertainment rag heap). From the epic production values, to the myriad variety of games and puzzles, to Richard and Ed's manic presentation, it was a truly great show. Please, bring it back, but only if the time and money is assured (and the host can keep up with those that have gone before - see Catchphrase).
