Game Central was a load of rubbish, but at least it provided employment for Paul Hendy (where is he now). It was just awful, they would just insult your intelligence by making the games deliberately easy. It was pointless, I'm glad it's gone. I notice that Challenge have refreshed some of their idents and break bumpers recently, but I agree these don't make a good replacement for the question mark logo and sting.
I still miss the good old days of Challenge TV - Prize Time and The Games Room. And all the fabulous games they used to play - and of course Pat Sharp and Andy Crane got a big role rather than just reading out easy questions and telling you what was coming up next. It made the channel nice and unique as you had real personalities between the programmes and you weren't just thinking "Oh hurry up and get on with the next programme" because it was genuinely great to watch.
Also Andrea Boardman and "Pillow Talk" usually done after Treasure Hunt and Love at First Sight (what a fabulously cheesy show that was!!) at about 11.30/12 midnight and something rude would always be said and there would be much laughter. I feel Challenge has lost what it had a few years ago.

Indeed and there was also Anabel Giles who only filled in occasionally and later Kevin from Blue's Clues who seemed to be the only one who made the move from Prize Time to the inferior Games Room. And there was 'Question Mark' as well!
Prize Time was often the best bit and was actually scheduled for up to 15 mins between the programmes
Id like to see challenge getting back to uniqueness like above!
Also they have refreshed the graphics; but the new logo graphics and dog/bug dont have the question mark after challenge; it used to be CHALLENGE? Its now CHALLENGE
Before it was a question, do u want a challenge? Now its like a statement; u must Challenge! I wonder why its gone, what kind of big meeting was had over it, and why it isnt as fun living and looking as it was when it was Challenge TV!
Initially he just said "let the fans begin" (or something similar) just like Richard but then made his own phrase as he got more into it "Let the North winds blow!!" was the one he loved most.
I think the standard phrase was 'start the fans please'. During the first couple of series I was still quite young and when he said that I thought he was actually instructing the contestants to turn on some fans inside the dome (I actually pictured ordinary oscillating desk fans for some reason). I always wondered who turned on the fans of any missing contestants that didn't go to the dome!

I don't know if I'm imagining it, but the dog seems to have moved slightly, and it now appears a bit 'squashed'.

Probably because having a channel called 'Challenge?' looks a bit odd. I know that when it was Challenge TV they had a question mark as their logo, but that wasn't quite the same thing. The Sky EPG still hasn't changed however (although only recently have they changed 'Granada Plus' to 'PLUS')
How many series was Industrial there for? I can barely remember it.
Industrial was there for half of the programme's life. The first 3 series had Industrial, the last 3 Ocean. Richard O'Brien only did 1 series with Ocean.
I remember Ocean was first introduced in a children's special, ahead of the 4th series starting.
About as accurate as the sand timers in Medieval most likely. Some games you'd lose about six seconds in the Richard era yet you always gained about three seconds or so extra in the Ed era.
Well, either that or the post-production people started the on-screen timers too early and just chopped however many seconds out before the first time-check to make it accurate.
Right. I'm not *certain* about this, but I do know that they filmed everything on two cameras and I know that when you went in, they stopped the cameras, and pulled you out so they could re set up for the game. That's why it was always "from whenever I close the door", they can get a neat starting point from that bit of filming. The timers are there for show really which is why the team got lots of warnings when they were about to run out of time.
The next day they'd refilm certain shots for the telly. They filmed the Dome twice - he first one that counts has them all picking up the tokens lying on the floor. But that doesn't make for great telly so they refilm it with them all jumping around and splice the two together.
DO you think Ed knew at the end of Series 6 that the programme was to finish for good or not??? Or was a decision made after the series had been filmed? He does say at the end of Series 6 that "he doesn't know when he will see us again, but hopefully it will be soon, but meanwhile, keep on rocking!".
Well I haven't seen him since the Crystal Maze finished so I wonder what he is doing now???
