I know it has been commented upon in another thread a few weeks ago, but I just wanted to see how many forumers would welcome a return of The Crystal Maze. Challenge? have said that talks have taken place about reviving the classic show and nothing has been confirmed yet, but it would probably be a co-production between them and another broadcaster, such as Channel 4 for example.

Seeing as this show ranked 2nd as the Best Ever Uk Game Show on the UKGameshows.com massive poll conducted earlier, I would guess that most people on this forum would like to see it back on our screens, if they had any sense!

Face it...it is a lot better than a lot of the rubbish on our screens at the moment! I have watched a few episodes that I have recorded from Channel 4 over the past few days and the show doesn't look dated at all...it would be great to see it back on Channel 4 where it belongs...either with Richard OR Ed...they were both great hosts!!!

But what do the rest of you think???

I think it was a great gameshow, shame they axed it Sad Hopefully it will be revived.

And me - very very fab!

I would like a slightly different format change with hosts, in that there is a host (a local) in each zone, who look after the contestant in their zone, and then shove them off to the next zone master etc.

I would like the zones to stay the same though - aztec, ocean, future & medieval. Mumsy would have to return too.

You can always play the Crystal Maze at Canaston Centre just off the A40 in Pembrokeshire.

It still has the zones that were used on the TV show, and even a giant dome at the end of the course where you have to push a load of orange buttons rather than collect bits of foil. Smile

Is that still there? It's a fab experience, you really DO feel like you're in the real maze!

If I remember correctly, it's near Oakwood theme park....

Well worth a visit!

Mummsy would have to come back - she was fab. I don't like the idea of bringing Industrial back as I always hated that zone - Ocean was much better, Of course instead of having the cyrstal dome thry could have the Chystal Spin where you have to spin like Samira and grab loads of gold tokens but avoid the ASV type silver ones. awww. I remember when I was three saving all the wrappers off milkybars and galaxy and using a hairdryer to play the cystal maze. Smile

I worked at the Crystal Maze up until a few weeks ago. They've done the whole building up now. Theres still bowling and arcade machines, plus the maze.

CC2000 (as it's now called) is right next to Oakwood, and is owned by the same company.

Yes. Yes. Yes. Bring it back.

I had a slight preference for Ed as presenter (probably more to do with his dress sense than anything else... Wink ) But Rich was good too. So either would do as host. Although, it would be interesting to see someone new do it. Just for the record: I preferred Ocean Zone to Industrial Zone (particularly as it's link from Aztec Zone was that nice little stream with stepping stones, rather than that boring pipe).

EDIT: Does anyone remember when they occasionally did Aztec Zone by night? The studio skyline would be dark with a crescent moon, and there would be a small campfire in the middle of the sand area. They only did it rarely, and I only ever saw them do it during Rich's era.

Aww yes. I always wanted to have a go on that lift between Aztec and Futuristic. I used to pretend the little lift between the two levels on the ground floor of Bainbridges was that lift.and get hacky looks from the women with the purfume (who were never as hostile as the Fenwicks ones - that place is dangerous if you go in from Northumberland Street).

Yep I remember when they did it at night - they had the bush crickets noise looping IIRC!

I was trying to remember how the contestants had to get into the zones - Aztec was down that little groovy river on the boats. Futuristic was answer a computer questions. Medieval was that portcullis thing wasn't it? Ocean clmib the rigging and run through the boiler room (getting drenched!). I can't remember how they did Industrial, or any of the games it though. My favoruite zones were Aztec & Ocean. Aww the memories!

I also had the Crystal Maze boardgame for Xmas one year! Loads of little palstic crystals.
