New Eastern Zone is now live and was the first one seen tonight. Looks quite red.

Also new "format twist" - a Mega Crystal worth 10 seconds:

The new zone looks good. Not sure the mega crystal thing is really needed.

Jeez, just play one more game instead! There should be three in each zone... but currently two zones only have two games, meaning the potential time in the dome is 10 seconds less than it used to be.

This is deliberate, apparently because they only have enough time for ten games a show.

A horrendous alignment fail on the endboard for the Britain's Cheapest Houses trailer during the first break, for any typesetting fans out there.

I’ve seen that at least a dozen times over the last week during various C4 shows. You’d think someone would have noticed and tried to sort it out. Likewise with the trailers for London Kills on BBC One.

Thought the new zone looked quite good, It's a lot better in terms of space, I always felt the updated version of Medieval was quite small compared to the 90s.

I still have problems with the whole "you might look different... it's because of editing" style approach, I still think it takes away from the fantasy of everything... but that's not going to change.

Hopefully they find a more permanent slot for it this time, considering all the shuffling around last time and somehow making about "5 series" from two sets of production (have we seen those three or so extra episodes from the first lot yet? Apparently they have been screened in Australia on SBS Viceland (which seem to like some C4 shows with Cats does Countdown and Travel Man also on there)).

Not at all. I am unsure why they haven't been shown, the production company is well aware they haven't been aired and last year said they haven't forgotten about them. Yet Channel 4 havent scheduled them? They could show them to break up this celebrity series? Why would they not show them?

I thought the 3D virtual reality polygon game was really clever and certainly a worthy game in the Futuristic zone. I hope they change the workings of the 3D game throughout the series. Certainly, a sure fire way of bringing back Knightmare. Relying on communication by team mates to the player in a blank room, to traverse a room full of pitfalls and danger. It was really cutting edge stuff. A cracking new Knightmare series could be based on this!

Back to the series last night, I am unsure why the map had not been updated to reflect the new Futuristic zone layout, rather than the classic 90's plan. Other than that, it was a great show!!

Fort Boyard is celebrating 30 years in France this year and tonight as part of their show for some reason they've shown some clips of the British pilot which was made with Richard O'Brien. Certainly the first time I've seen footage.

Night Thoughts, Juicy Joe and Jon gave kudos

Watching the episode last night I thought the new zone was okay. I wonder if the zone change was done in part to help make it more appealing to international franchises. The mega crystal feels like an attempt to give contestants a better chance of winning in the dome, due to there being fewer games than in the original 90s series. I'd still prefer to have one or two more games played instead, with less chat between games.

It was amusing to watch Gemma Collins throw a strop during her futuristic zone game, trying to get them to stop the game (which the producers didn't edit out). The game itself was quite interesting an reminded me of a more basic version played back in the 90s (possibly series 2 or 3), where the contestant was shown as a dot on a monitor to the team outside.

I'm guessing giving Carol Voderman a game where she had to count down the numbers from 100 to 1 was no accident, especially with the music that played during the final 10(?) seconds.
