The drama series " Crown Court " from the 70's and 80's made by Granada, is currently being shown on Legal TV on Sky.
Does anyone know if it is planned to return with a new series? In the
new edition of Radio Times, the actor Richard Wilson who appeared in many of the episodes says he had heard it could be making a comeback.
I appeared as a jury member in the early 80's and really was a great programme. Authentic set and the jury DID decide on the verdict! Very Happy

So was he guilty, or not?

No Gavin. He was a barrister.
All the actors took their roles really seriously and had no idea of the
final verdict.
When the verict was due all the jury members went into a room to
discuss the case ( with coffee and sarnies of course! ). Then the decision was phoned through to the director then he could set up the relevant shots.
The jury returned to the studio and then taped the final verdict. Nothing was told to the actors in advance so that the director could capture more realistic reactions. The jury foreman had to be an equity member as he had to say " Guilty " or " Not Guilty " M'lud!!

The Defendant was a Barrister?

Gavin, I assume you were referring to the defendant.

I guess Steve thought you were referring to Richard Wilson.

Yeah I was reffering to Richard Wilson. Sorry for any confusion. Hell - wonder how may I " sent down " when they were in fact not guilty! I do have my blonde moments! Rolling Eyes
