Crown Castle to add two further channels

Even before Crown Castle has increased capacity on it's two muxes from 4 to 5 channels with new channels from ITV and C4, Media Guardian reports today that they will be inviting bids for a sixth channel on each mux due to further compression.

It begs the question about whether the BBC should increase capacity on it's two muxes (or at least one of them!) from 4 to 6 channels.

NO!

The quality is already starting to become unbearable on a lot of the channels that are squashed onto a single mux.

I find it pretty poor in the digital age, that we do away with the PAL artefacts but glady welcome block MPEG pictures to our screens that end up looking worse than the original analogue signal anyway!
