I missed the beginning of Crimewatch on Tuesday night on BBC1, but they often mentioned that they were live in Manchester during the programme, but would be back in London for the next edition, was there any particular reason it was from Manchester this time?

Also, I am sure before Christmas it was said the next programme was sometime during the last week of January, and on Tuesday they said as there was no Crimewatch in January, there would be two in February, was the Jaunary edition delayed for some reason does any one know?

I'm not blaming you for a double thrread here ... and I'm not surprised you didn't find it ... but there was a question about this in the Noth West thread in The Newsroom. I posted the following:

There was no apparrent reason, though they did seem to feature more stories from the northwest than usual and constantly refer to regional initiatives to reduce gun crime etc. They also reminded the viewers frequently that the programme was "Live from Manchester". Not a bad idea IMO. Perhaps the programme should come from as many regional centres as are left ... sadly I don't think there are too many largeish regional studios still in use. Presumably, this programme came from Granada? Apart from the large studios in the BBC Nations, are there any BBC facilities left where CWUK could come from? Is there still a larger studio in Newcastle?

There is a very large studio on City Road, but it belongs to Tyne Tees which are soon to move to the MetroCentre. Hopefully the facilities will be bought by a broadcaster, and not converted into flats, though the latter seems more likely. BBC Broadcasting centre is tiny - and I don't think they have any studios other than the main news studio and a broom cupboard news studio which is now unused.

Thanks Adam - I had it in my mind somewhere that there was a news studio and a larger studio at Newcastle - but I'm not sure where that came from. I certainly cannot think of any programme (other than news) to come from a BBC Newcastle studio, which is why I queried it here. I know that Bristol, Birmingham and Manchester were the English regions that had Network Television Studios in the past, plus Elstree and Milton Keynes - the old Open University Production Centre. Sadly, they're all now closed, with the exception of Elstree.

I do honestly remember them saying they'd be back in the first week on Februrary in December.
