Admittedly I haven't watched Crimewatch for a while. It has Sian Williams covering for Kirsty Young, then Martin Bayfield as usual doing the e-fit segments, then surprisingly Sonali Shah covering for Jason Mohammad.

How come the graphics are full 16:9 but the camera shots and VT are pillarboxed? Is Cardiff not HD capable?

(I've got a recording of the test card on my Sky+ and I've checked the overscan is set right on my box/telly).

Looking at my recording, the studio is definitely upscaled SD, except for the graphics and packages.

Edit: Actually I think the packages are also upscaled and the trailer for Crimewatch Roadshow had terrible PQ.

Sonali Shah covering for Jason Mohammad who was covering for Matthew Amroliwala?!

Matthew hasn't presented for a while now.

Unless it was right at the beginning, there didn't seem to be a mention of Kirsty's absence, and at the end Sian said "we'll see you next month". Has Kirsty left?

Sian mentioned a minute into the show that she was standing in for Kirsty.

Sian mentioned a minute into the show that she was standing in for Kirsty.

That's fine, but she didn't say Kirsty will be back next month?

There isn't a new Crimewatch until July.

Indeed - usually, the crushing feeling of the top British player losing quells any desire to commit crime, so there's no need for Crimewatch.
