Weren't the ICC trying to get the final broadcast FTA anyway?
Sky have announced that they will make the Cricket World Cup final free-to-air if England get through to it.
I would say it would most likely have to be Pick. And could he a very big audience for the channel.

JA
I think they know cricket's taken a massive exposure blow since it went behind a paywall.

I'm wondering whether the ICC World Cup could be the Zenith of pay tv Sport in the UK. The number of commentators bemoaning the lack of FTA coverage is large, and not the same siren voices, some quite influential too. It's also telling that some active players have criticised the paywall too.
We've seen the FA Cup move to full FTA in a couple of years. It's also clear that Sky won't get so clean a run at F1 when that comes up for renewal.
Key rights including the UEFA club competitions are due for renewal in the coming months. I'd expect to see changes from now on.

Probably not because the cost of the FA cup is relatively cheap for the BBC and ITV. The ICC will never drop their prices unless forced to by law neither will UEFA. And because of the sponsorhip a joint BBC/ITV bid for the Europa League or Champions League is near impossible.

It looks like England are going to make the World Cup final. I think if Channel 4 didn’t have their only live Grand Prix of the season on Sunday it would have ended up there as they already have the relationship with Sky. I can’t see Channel 4 being very happy if it ends up on any other main terrestrial channels but at a push Sky might do a deal with ITV.
At the very least I think it’ll be live across Pick, YouTube and maybe Facebook.
This is of course if everything goes to plan.

I was thinking about that earlier. It's a nice but complicated situation to decide over. Who to keep happy, if the IOC ask Sky to give it to an FTA PSB outlet?
FOM/Liberty, won't be too happy to see the British Grand Prix moved to More 4 - after tomorrows two practice sessions, and Saturday morning's one and the afternoon qualifying being aired on the main channel.
With ITV - they are not going to give up all day on the main channel for coverage (even though it could be argued, as a sports event of national importance, that's exactly where it should end up).
Plus that wouldn't impress the BBC with the Wimbledon mens final, and Channel 4 with the F1. Both would prefer the cricket to be on a 'lower down' EPG channel, and make viewers search for it.
They could move it to ITV4 - but then they'd have to move Sundays Tour De France coverage to ITV3 - the racing from Newmarket today as already ended up here today.
So, I probably think - F1 will stay on Channel 4, Tour De France on ITV4, and the Cricket World Cup final will end up on More 4...
..or Sky keep it for themselves and shove it on Pick.

I think ITV would in a heartbeat these days.
It’s all depends whether they have option open to them. I also don’t know why you’d think they’d be worried about upsetting the BBC.

Channel Four it seems .....
Great news: England are in Cricket World Cup Final. Even better news: you can watch it live and free on C4 in partnership with Sky Sports

So, I wonder how many verbal and graphical mentions for Sky Sports on the Channel 4 coverage there will be on Sunday, then?
It'll be exactly the same Sunset and Vine Star Sports/IOC coverage on both - but you'd think that Sky would want some form of plugging on Channel 4 at regular intervals..

Yep, it'll start on Channel 4 and then I believe move to More4 when the F1 starts, then return to C4 afterwards (as long the game is a bit longer than today's!).
