Sky edge out BT for main live rights (June 2017)

Although I still think the live free to air package is very much the scraps rather than the crown jewels I do think the BBC have instantly added value to it by having the highlights as well, meaning that along with their radio coverage they can effectively cover the season as a whole and the live events aren't so random within the schedule.

IIRC the current contract prevents highlights being shown FTA between 8-10pm, so 7-8pm will be likely for most occassions on BBC2. Perhaps when there are clashes they'll use BBC4.

Mentioning Peter west as a commentator who wasn't a pro, well there was Ralph dellor as well, who was a broadcaster by trade, but not actually an ex pro. In the 1990s he did the Sunday league with Jack Bannister on Sunday Grandstand, when they showed a match once a fortnight.

BT is probably more concerned at present about the Australian cricketers strike.

I fully expect it to be resolved by the Ashes, but the two sides are pretty far apart at present.
