Who created the Meridian ident?

The Meridian bit is very small but there are some great tidbits in there: , Carlton's logo had that little 'T' so that the logo would easily morph in "LONDON"

That's pretty well known isn't it? Although the animation was only really used on air during the first year or so
Well I didn't know! Very Happy

There's an image I've taken on my phone of a rejected BBC1 and BBC2 ident that I'll have to upload. The BBC2 one is particularly awful!

Are they the 'ONE' and 'TWO' logos with the globe in the O of 'ONE'?

Yes.

And here it is animating in the first few seconds of their launch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RziPxwFhESE#t=0m23s

It only animated on the idents where the person said 'television for London'. Quite clever at the time I thought, although of course it was just a typographical quirk after a year or so

Does the book include any info on Arte, Super Channel, TV1000, Nederland 1, TV5 Sweden or any other of the less known Lambie-Nairn work?

There's a fair bit about Arte I think, a bit on NBC Super Channel and TV5 and the TV1000 stuff is immediately after the Meridian bit. IIRC, they used that "marketing tree" thing with them. There's also the European Business Channel, TSI (Swiss Italian channel), a Portuguese channel called Quatro, some RTR (Russia) spin-off channels and a UK Christian channel which I've never heard of called something 2 or 2 something! It said that at print it was still yet to launch.

Speaking about early Lambie-Nairn work, I stumbled upon an article about the creation of Scottish TV's thistle logo in 1985, and it turnes out that Lambie-Nairn were involved there too. The article isn't really clear about if Lambie-Nairn designed what ended up on screen, but it is interesting nontheless. The thistle logo is however not mentioned in Lambie-Nairn's book.

Yes.

I've never seen these, I don't think. Any chance you could upload them or point me to a website with examples? Google doesn't seem to want to know.
