Well Timmy Mallett and Crazy Frog both go 'blaaaaah!' so I'm at a loss. Wink

At least Timmy Mallett wasn't on at every ad break on hundreds of TV channels. Laughing

Had slightly fewer channels in those days remember! Ad space was somewhat more expensive! Otherwise I can well believe we'd have had "Get the fantastic sound of Timmy Mallet on your mobile" day in day out.

"Thats right folks, Timmy Mallett, everyone's favourite childrens entertainer straight to your mobile - "Blaaaaah! Its Wacaday" - Text 88 88 for the mono, polys and real tones " Laughing

The Mr Blobby type ones may of been around the same thing, but at least they didn't get advertised on every commercial broadcaster every ad break, and at least they didn't want to make you chuck a brick at the TV. Twisted Evil

If the "Crazy Frog" gets to the top position in the Singles charts, I can only assume the buyers are young kids and those who think the idea is cool but won't admit it - as it seems to me, nearly all feedback I've heard/seen with regards to the Jamster campaign and Crazy Frog itself indicates many people dislike it.

It must cause some frustration when people I know who usually aren't irritated by regular showings of an advert, are clearly annoyed by the Crazy Frog and the influx of other similar animated adverts promoting ringtones.

The single market has collapsed to such a degree that it only takes 20,000 copies to make number 1.

Quite ironic that this record is going to benefit from the very singles market that this type of ringtone/download culture has destroyed.....

Every record released in the 1960s sold 17.2 trillion copies every second and there are only 18,630 possible combinations of notes and they ran out in 1972, blah blah blah.

As one member has already said I expect a refund on the license fee if they broadcast that f*cking frog on TOTP, that and I'd expect Andy Peters head to roll, literaly by a mass crowd of anti-frog protestors with pick forks etc....

My dad keeps telling me how songs in the 1960s needed to sell over 1 million copies a week to be able to top the charts. he certinally seems convinced that this the truth, but according to the Guiness book of hit singles, there's only been 77 million selling singles, and most of them post-date the 60s, and only 4 singles exceed 2 million sales- Mull of kyntire, Bohemian Rhapsody, Band Aid & Candle in the wind. None of which are from the 60s which means his theory is crap.

Bit of an exaggeration, the lowest ever weekly sales is 20k, but it is usually nearer 100k
