Well, the big digital switchover is complete for Fife, but, one problem. I seem to have a large amount of freeview channels missing. Now the likes of ITV3 and ITV4, I can get on sky. But from STV+1, on channel 32, it then jumps up to channel 70 CBBC. Channels like Smile, Challenge, are all missing.

I did reture at 07:15 this morning, and again done the first time installation at 20:35 tonight, and it seems that I've lost channels. Any ideas if I'll get them back?

The muxes that the channels you mention above, have actually moved to higher frequencies than they were previously on, although their output power has also increased, the net result could well be a reduction in signal for these.

How old is the aerial ? More than 10-12 years ? If so, it will probably not properly receive half the muxes it needs to.

A clue to this, is did you ever receive Five on analogue ? If not, then that also points to the aerial being unsuitable. Five analogue used to be on a similar frequency to your missing channels.

My guess is your aerial might require updating. Can you upload a picture of it ?

Can't upload a picture atm, but the signal on five on analogue was poor. It's a lot older than 10 years.

Sounds like your aerial is optimised for a narrower band than is required for Freeview. (The main PSB muxes are closer to the old analogue frequencies used in most areas, with the commercial muxes further away - and thus less receivable on older aerials if they were for a narrow group)

It'll be a Group A then, only responds properly to UHF chs 21-34. The old four analogue channels from Craigkelly were 21,24,27,31. Before DSO the main PSB muxes were also in the 20s region.

From yesterday, the three main PSB muxes have taken over 21,24,27. However the COM muxes have moved from 23, 39, and 42, to 42, 45, and 49. It looks as if you've lost the two COM muxes that are now on 45 and 49 (C5 analogue used to be on 48 )

You probably need to replace the aerial with a Wideband, this covers 21-68.

Good news folks. An aerial installer was out here today, and installed a new high gain yagi aerial, which now provides me with all the Freeview channels I should be getting. Problem solved!

Many thanks to all of you for your assistance here.

Mind if I ask how much it cost?

£200. But we learnt something else. My mum thought we had just one aerial. In fact, we had two! One located on the roof, which supplies the tv in the living room, and mums bedroom. The other in the loft, supplying the Tv in my room. The engineer has thus combined everything into this new aerial. so the old aerial in the loft remains, but out of use.

Interesting. My property doesn't have an antenna. I'm sure the building does, but this place was refurbished before I bought it, so any old coax wall socket will be behind new plasterboard.

Hope I can do better than £200 though!
