Well, unsurprisingly, I disagree.

Currie was the best person the Tories ever had, and one of the few genuinely honest ones out there. On election night 97 she famously said it'd take nothing short of a miracle for her to hold on to her seat. She did have a high pitched voice, but I don't think it's entirely fair to hold that against her.

Her replacement, Anita ?!, is the most reactionary, odious radio presenter I have heard for a very long time. She ranks alongside the Adrian Allen's of this world; "let's see what I can make a fuss about tonight". It might be "interesting" but it's not "intelligent".

Would also like to add that Sky have been leagues ahead tonight - despite Platell incident. Scooping the Beeb and ITV on just about every one of the annoucements about who is doing what.

News 24 has been amateurish and ITV has been picking up the leftovers.

It amazes me how anyone is able to come to this conclusion, imagine all the flicking backwards and forwards that is involved. How can you hope to take any of this in, when you are flicking between the channels. You must watch alone otherwise anybody you are with would quickly get very annoyed. Laughing

Yeah, it does amaze me that people do actually have that much time on their hands.

Well to be honest c@t I only had time to watch the announcement just before 7- Sky had Adam Boulton in Smith Square (useful for later on but hardly at the hub of the action), whereas N24/BBC1 had their man on the line outside the committee room where the announcement was being made.

As for what's happened since then, I really can't comment

Was the 9pm programme any good, and is it repeated.

I am watching the News Active Repeat of Littlejohn

Like that 'Top of the Pops meets News 24' tribute to IDS - 'Don't Look Back In Anger' by Oasis.

I'm a student; I have all the time in the world.

Anyway, anything that prevents me from writing a 2000 worder on European Law is surely a bonus.

Oh come on! Can anyone be surprised about c@t coming to the conclusion that Sky News is the most wonderful channel in the world! He doesn't flick between channels, he's lost his remote and can't turn it off 501 and so just lives there in the dream world that it's a decent channel! Wink

They do know that these things sometimes don't run to schedule, don't they?

Witness (or not, as the case was) Nelson Mandela's release.

The BBC and ITV promised some tightly scheduled live coverage, but it took so long they got bored, cut to recorded programming and missed it.

er, really?
That's not how I remember it.... waiting for ages watching a crowded road full of people guessing: 'is that him?' until he finally arrived.

It was definately carried live on either BBC1 or ITV or both. Haven't you heard the stories about all the punters that complained that their programmes had been taken off to make way for it?

Well I doubt he will win the confidence vote, he is an appalling leader. Tony Blair is bad but he is ten times badder.

Not as bad as your grammar though! Rolling Eyes

But to be fair, you might not agree with him or his methods, but Blair is a good leader. You don't get through 8 years being in charge of a party, 6 years in charge of the country with no 'votes of confidence' and for most of that time, high popularity if you're not a good leader.

As for Howard, I think a couple of re-runs of that Paxman interview will scupper any chances he has of becoming PM. Not that the Tories have a chance of winning anyway, todays vote might just have been 'Do you want to loose the next election, Yes/No'
