At the end of today's UK Today was a report (that must have been drawn from Midlands Today) about Coventry being voted the UGLIEST CITY IN THE U.K. by listeners of BBC Radio 4's 'Today' programme.
I don't quite live in Coventry (just outside the city limits) but am more than familiar with the City Centre and I've always hated the way it looks too. I'm so proud!
It's the only title Coventry's ever likely to win! As they put it in the news report: 'Post-war planners have succeeded in finishing what Hitler started in the blitz!' Indeed much of Coventry's architecture is only beaten by Greater London in terms of harsh-on-the-eye scariness.
After the report, Gwennan Edwards said 'Surely it can't be that bad?'. She's obviously never been - lucky her...
