Technical problem during weather forecast (February 2008)

That's the software's loading screen, as it's building the forecast the arrow icon changes between lots of other symbols, it's also quite handy as a ID slate (if the date is correct of course!)

Very telling that even if we hadn't have been able to join Rob at all, the announcer probably wouldn't have read the forecast herself, having initially told viewers to "visit the BBC website". Fine for us but probably not the computer-phobic pensioners most likely to be watching that forecast.

It seems to be the standard response for broadcasters to tell us to "visit the website" these days for further information on whatever topic, but what of the still many viewers who aren't on the net?

Or the visit the website bit was just filling whilst it became clear whether it would be possible to go to the weather studio, which could have been done as a radio forecast in sound only over the holding slide if necessary.
