I think it would be a good idea for ITV to have Countdown on, afterall it is made by Yorkshire Television, an ITV company. They could extend CITV to 5.15 and then have Countdown on 5.15-6.00pm.

And yes its Countdown's birthday on Sunday not today, it didnt air until 2/11/82. Rolling Eyes

Correct me if I'm wrong, but (IIRC) didn't Countdown originally start out as segment of Calendar?

Yes Richard Whiteley was on Calendar tonight and as you'd expect he managed to mention the word 'Calendar' a good 6 times, he said he was very proud that it first started as a Calendar spin-off.

just because Border were so poor they couldn't actually afford cards it's no reason to mock them Phil. Mad

I think Border could just about run to Lookaround 100%

Well it is now S4C's 21st birthday.

Anyone who missed todays Countdown missed nothing spectacular, except Richard wearing a different tie and at the end Jennie Bond came on with a cake saying Happy Birthday Countdown, then Richard claming what a lucky boy he was as he had Jennie Bond and Carol Voderman by his side. To be honest I was laughing at it. Shame they couldn't have done a special programme on Sunday or even take the bother do repeat a classic one, you would think Channel 4 would be in the spirit, but I guess we're having to wait until the 25th now.

I must admit I hardly ever catch Countdown in the new slot. Have they really lost 25% of the audience ? That must be nearly 1 million viewers! Surely C4 are going to seriously consider moving it back after that performance, especially with Countdown being sponsored these days. A Place in the Sun is a far weaker show with much less appeal I should think.
