I hope my suggestion for the new presenter will be satisfactory for all. He is, the one, the only:
PAUL COIA.
Think about it, there's good omens here. He was the first voice on Channel 4 so the historic link remains. He did the introduction into the first Countdown. He is a proven quizmaster on this kind of format in Catchword. He's different enough to Richard to avoid comparisons but similar enough to pull this off.
That is a brilliant idea but unfortunately Paul Coia (as far as I know) has been away from TV for far too long to suddenly return. Most people probably won't know/remember who he is. Nice idea though.

Nope... I think if you check, you'll find that in Dictionary corner was the (late) Ted Moult.
I think Gyles is certainly the obvious choice. He would be perfect for it though, I'm sure he'd be able to make the show his own without being in Richards shaddow.
