I would have liked to see the clock revamped, considering it's pretty much stayed the same since the mid-nineties. Although, saying that, I doubt there's much they could do with it.


Yeah they could have revamped the clock a bit. How does it wind back to zero, does it go clockwise back to the top or anti-clockwise?

It goes clockwise to the top, and only takes about 2 seconds, although I recall seeing that happen on-screen once during a documentary about Countdown.

The Daily Wail would start a campaign to bring the old one back. It is a brilliantly simple yet iconic thing. Does anybody know if it was copied from the original French show or introduced for the UK version.

It's the same with the numbers board. I was thinking as Rachel's writing isn't too brilliant at the moment a touch screen version would be good, but they'd never get away with it.

Never fails to get a gasp from the audience whenever it completes its cycle. It's a clock, ladies, calm down .. plus you saw it do that exact thing five minutes ago. And five minutes before that too.

Why isn't Rachel putting the contestants' words up as confirmation when they play the letters rounds? I feel this is something that is missing - even more so when dictionary corner beats the contestants the viewer should see the word.

She is, though from what I've seen only one word per round at the moment.

Contestant just picked five vowels (letters were CRRTAAEEI - cards can't have been shuffled properly). I thought they weren't allowed to do that?

Five is the maximum they're allowed.
