A couple of new "favourites" today, depending on which rag you read. The Daily Mail are saying Alexander Armstrong, while the News of the World are opting for Christopher Biggins, which would just be bloody awful.

Well another host has been linked to the show out of nowhere. According to The Sun the new Countdown host will be Sky Sports' Jeff Stelling. I love Jeff so I'd watch if he did it.

He seems the best choice out of the names mentioned so far.

Well apparently Jeff was interviewed on Talksport by Hawksbee and Jacobs and he said it's not true. What a shame.

Not being a sports fan, I've never heard of him but then again not many of the Countdown target audience have heard of Greg Scott.

What!

It's a shame the rumour is false. As others have said, Jeff would have been a great choice.

I heard on the radio that Alexander Armstrong is in the running again, and that a Channel 4 spokesman would make a decision soon. Can't find any source though.

Jeff would have been brilliant. With his comedy career I just can't see Armstrong committing to it and will probably last as long as Des Lynham did.

The same radio station is reporting confirmation of Armstrong becoming the new host.

Yes it looks like Alexander Armstrong has got the job and been offered a contract according to Media Guardian.

I can't believe he'd take up the role as host on Countdown before the job as Have I Got News For You's permanent presenter!

He probably got fed up of waiting to be asked.
