So has Greggles been placing a few bets then - he's the favourite to host according to Stan James:

http://www.stanjames.com/betting/index.asp?sl=sltc&gi=36&sltc=269730.2&sle=856958.2&slmt=569.2

Scott, Greg 5/2
Rory Bremner 100/30
Aspel, Michael 5/1
O'Connor, Tom 5/1
Brandreth, Gyles 6/1
Wogan, Terry 8/1
O'Grady, Paul 12/1
Bruce, Ken 12/1
Parkinson, Michael 20/1
Parsons, Nicholas 20/1
Dent, Suzie 20/1
Rantzen, Esther 25/1
Holmes, Eamonn 25/1
Lynam, Des 33/1
Robinson, Anne 40/1

However, despite C4 repeatedly saying they would search for a newcomer to replace Carol Vorderman they still insist on putting Myleene Klass as favourite at 2/1, ahead of Gaby Roslin at 5/2 and Suzie Dent at 33/1.

I would also like to announce that I will not be presenting Countdown now, or at any point in the future.

Surely Mr Lynam would have worse odds than 33/1 - but of course, this is a betting shop, so some of the odds must be out, to entice people in.

Does anyone know if the final Countdown with Carol has been recorded yet? She looks rather grumpy on the show these days.

Noticing Terry Wogan now has a part time filler show until Paul O Grady comes back, now that he's on C4 perhaps he should take the chair. He's not a million miles away from Mr Whitelys old personality.

A fair point: Do you think Sir Terry would want to do both Countdown and his Radio 2 show... not sure if he'd quit his lucrative contract with the latter?

Then again filming Countdown only amounts to a few days a month, (from what I gather) so it may not be too much of a stretch (unless your name is Des!).

I'd tune in for Terry - no question.

I noticed this when I caught the show yesterday -- you'd almost think she was trying to suck the format dry of any character, which I certainly wouldn't blame her for.

She certainly seemed grumpy today, on the verge of a breakdown. No more witty banter. Confused

This episode (and tomorrows) was filmed on 16th July, just a week before Carol announced that she was leaving, I was in the audience.

Clearly disputes were already in motion backstage then, who knows.

Urgh, I saw 90 seconds of this show before having to change channel. I haven't cringed so much in quite some time.

Horrid....horrid experience.

I've seen Vorderman walking up and down the corrdiors at ITV Yorkshire. She looks glum these days it has to be said.
