Reading various papers over the past couple of days, DC guests have been queuing up to say/imply they will not appear on the show again after the treatment of Carol: Rick Wakeman, Gyles Brandreth, Ann Widdecombe and Sian Lloyd for a start.

Surely no right minded thinking celeb will want to touch the show after the bad treatment of the current presenters.

Given the current state of affairs, somewhat presumptious of them to think they'd still be required.
The dictionary corner celebrity could easily be disposed of in the current climate.

Vernon is golden-handcuffed to ITV (bar his radio 1 stuff)
And his obligitory Guitar Hero DS adverts, which to be frank was way more watchable than hmm any programme he has done since Headjam.

Sian Lyod? Wouldn't be too expensive, popular, intelligent the last time I checked too. Vernon Kay and Tess Daly might be worth a punt.

The same people who said they'd never appear on the show again after Richard Whitely died because they felt the show should have died with him.
What they're really saying is they won't appear on the show again if they get a 90% (or even 10%) cut in their fee.

Depends if that means ITV1 or ITV Productions.

Ever heard of interactivetelly.com? Stan James?
Me neither. I am extremely sceptical about this article, and even moreso regarding Greg Scott - as I have said, I don't think he has the ability to adapt to such a programme as Countdown.

Where as I totally disagree.
I think Greg Scott would bring that warmth and humour that I've personally missed from the programme since Richard Whiteley passed away, I thought that Des Lynam was geting there, and then left, but Des O'Conner I just think he was the wrong choice, I know that countdown appeals to the OAP's, but it also appeals to everyone else, so I don't understand why they think that every host has to have gone into retirement once, and come back to host countdown with less hair, or a new shade of grey.
After watching the special that they made with Greg hosting and Richard doing Carol's job, I think that he would be great at it, especially as he knows the show, the viewers and the team better than anyone else.
The only problem that I can see is that Greg was loyal to the show, and would hae had a great relationship to Carol, so I'm not sure how he would feel on the whole situation, but would love to know.
