Yes I know there is a Closed Thread, but I found a source as I read it in Today's Daily Mirror...

Daily Mirror: Lynam

....I don't think this is true really, as it has been mentioned on here before I think, and surely Des agreed to doing it if he knew he'd be travelling up to Leeds every now and again, which I can't see as a really tiring job.

If it is true, then I think Richard Whiteley would be turning in his Grave, as the show has always been produced by Yorkshire and is one of the things that has kept Yorkshire going as a Production house.

Hopefully this isn't true, and it's probably The Mirror blowing it out of proportion.

I love it. You've got the best part of a page dedicated to this story, then at the very bottom....

Last night Des's agent insisted he was perfectly happy working in Leeds. "Des has not asked for any changes," she said.

Don't know why anyone would question the authenticity of this - it's been mentioned over at Digital Spy (sorry, wash my mouth out) so it muct be true!

Well, if this rumour is true, I can only say how disappointing that is. Countdown's home is in Leeds and always has been.

It's also on Teletext and quite a few newspapers

So typical of padlock Charlie to lock a thread because it was rumour and hadn't been verified on MediaGuardian.

I felt exactly the same, Squarey.

Here’s some additional source material which doesn’t have a red top, so might just be believable to Keith the Sceptic!

Someone on Digital Spy has it in their heads it'll be moving to Maidstone. Obviously not the most reliable site by any means, but if they were to move down South I would have thought Maidstone would be a very strong contender.

Thanks Nick.

A Channel 4 spokeswoman said: "Des was an instant hit with Countdown viewers when he joined the show last year.

"The series continues to be recorded in Leeds but we're looking at various options.

"However the production team and post-production will always remain in Leeds with filming due to commence this September running through to the end of the year."

Hmmmm.....

If Countdown ever is moved to a different location, they'll have to move it to somewhere beginning with L... otherwise the acronym CECIL won't really work!

Leeds Castle, anyone?
