On 5 Live, on Fridays Elis & John and The Mayo/Kermode movie show have been moved to weekend 2100 slots with standard news programming replacing them. As much as I love E&J that slot has always felt out of place.

E&J should have got the Saturday morning slot instead of Scott Mills, perfect place in the schedule. I assume that's being replaced too?

With reference to Up All Night, that's being replaced by a BBC World Service simulcast. As with the recent changes to TV News, I wonder how many of these changes will stay beyond the current situation?

No, 5 Live and therefore the whole local radio network are carrying Radio London's overnight programmes:

Of course Up All Night has been presented from home for a long time, a shame that Rodd Sharp probably won't get a proper send off now

Don't really want to start another thread on Coronavirus but the ads before The Last Leg aren't particularly indicating there is an issue with ads for Turkish Airlines and something 12 minutes on the tube out of London.

They'll have been bought ages ago though, remember how fast this has escalated in the last 10 days

I do wonder what it means for advertising going forward. If non essential shops and businesses are the next to close there will reach a point where the only adverts will be for food products, which could be seen as a bit odd given many supermarket shelves are empty.

Advertising is the first thing companies cut.

There is an advert for the new Trolls movie kicking about as well, saw it a few times on ITV earlier, perfect for the kids in the Easter holidays, in cinemas April 7th.

The trolls advert will probably be re edited to reference the fact it’s premiering on sky store

Is some talk (admitedly I think in another thread here) about whether that idea may have to be pulled due to the demands on broadband seeing streamers lowering their video quality.

If it's premiering on Sky Store it could pre-download to boxes in the early hours.

Which will have a knock on effect for broadcast companies when their services will be required the most.

For broadcasters which rely on advertising as their main or sole source of income, if this revenue dries up, this could have devastating consequences.

This could mean that the measure announced by the government to support employers and their employees may have to be extended to broadcasters, otherwise we could end up seeing a number of channels/broadcasters ceasing operations.

I think TV will be feeling the consequences for a long time ahead, as indeed will the rest of society.

It will, things don't get back to normal quickly when when they're over. Look at the 1979 ITV strike, that was affecting schedules for months. And this is arguably even more serious (even if they are staying on air).

Time for a revamped version of this song then.

Do wonder if some shows filmed then never broadcast might see the light of day.

Are we going to get weeks of 3-2-1 again? Razz
