It’s to insure that each episode costs roughly the same amount. If it’s won 4 days in a row, or won after 2 weeks, it costs roughly the same. It’s not like the concept of a rollover is unique to Pointless, pub quizzes and Lotteries do it.

It’s worked particularly well for Eggheads, meaning they’ve had teams win £75,000, but each episodes prize budget is always a grand.

I wonder how it works for shows like The Chase where the money on offer varies?

The producers set the offers, so they can adjust them to suit the remaining prize budget.

The excellent Beat The Chaser website is a good read - average payout for a daytime episode is around £5,300

Another point of interest is how Series 1-5 were 'easier', so you got higher cash builders and final chase targets, since Series 6 it has remained more stable (e.g. average team builder is always within roughly the £19,000 mark)

Most facinating fact there, is out of 1580 broacast daytime episodes, with just 387 team wins (and it does feel like a lot more, but facts is facts) its averaging a win once in every 4 programmes.

For ITV, that's good and cost effective quiz show formatting.

CBBC have scheduled "bitesize for primary", the week after half term @ 10AM

I don't really want to get all speculative here, but with the hints of a "circuit breaker" lockdown, I can only imagine that is the reason why.

The circuit breaker in Wales is scheduled to last until the 9th of November, so that does make sense.

Except primary schools in Wales reopen on the 2nd - they aren’t included in the lockdown.

However, there’s no harm in transmitting shows like this at the moment as there are plenty of children who are self-isolating and can’t go into the classroom.

Maxxx, the comedy which was scrapped early in lockdown by E4 after one episode is now turning up on C4 next Thursday at 10pm.

Watched by a whopping 180k so that plan worked. With the E4 audience combined I think that brings a total audience of about 270k.

I don’t know which thread to put this on, wasn’t the Jonathan Ross show not meant to be on tonight?
