C4's latest burning off of an old thing on the shelf on a Friday at 8pm quietly starts tonight. Lodgers for Codgers, a 6 part series first announced in January 2019 where under 30s who can't get on the property ladder move in with old people. What more could you possibly want to watch after a week of work on a Friday night?!

Five Guys a Week will also return after its flop first five episodes but will be airing at 10pm on Fridays, presumably after Gogglebox to give it some hope of getting a decent audience.

What a waste of Friday nights. I've said throughout lockdown after the success of the latest series they should have just let Friday Night Dinner repeats do a job for them - they'd be good for a couple of million off the back of Gogglebox, something C4 don't see too often in primetime nowadays.
Turns out nobody had 2020 vision.

The chances of FND doing 2m in repeats is zero. Five Guys a Week at least is new content and with a more compatible lead in than Celebrity Bake Off.

2 episodes of Friday Night Dinner are on 4Music at 9pm, if people want to see repeats of that.
Or they can go to On Demand for every episode on Sky if they have that.

Seems this weeks episodes of The Heights, the ABC Australian soap the BBC bought in as a summer replacement for Doctors, are airing ahead of their broadcast in Australia. There it is airing weekly, but the BBC caught up last Friday (they've had two 30-part series) and are airing the final 5 episodes of the second series this week whilst they continue weekly in Australia.

No sign of Doctors returning yet - Land Girls is repeated next week.

EastEnders finished airing in June and is only starting up on TV next week it was off air for 3 months and was one of the first BBC dramas to return to filming means it is unlikely we will see Doctors any time soon. Doctors only started filming last month so I say late October/Early November return. Casualty and Holby have only started up again so unlikely to see them again until around Christmas.

BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 6 Music : Various changes to their evening and weekend schedules, mainly to simplify them. Once again they "will remain under review for the foreseeable future".

It looks like Radio 2 went back to normal in the third week of July, and 6 Music's standard schedule returns next week. Are there many other 'simplifications' still in place across the network?

Friday afternoons on 5 Live still has shortened versions of Elis & John and Kermode & Mayo - the former has been live for a couple of months again now, the latter has only been live with stand ins. I believe Simon Mayo was still isolating and broadcasting from home recently for his Scala Radio show, but he's been off the 5live show for the past few weeks, so I don't this will change until he is back in the studio.

Radio 1 has opted for an entirely new schedule rather than going back to pre-covid normal - Greg James now permenently starts the day at 7am until 10:30 - then all the other daytime shows have been shortened half an hour to enable Annie Mac's start time to be brought forward an hour to 6pm. The new schedule started this week and all DJs are back, although Nick Grimshaw has had to self isolate following a holiday, so is broadcasting from home with Adele in the studio driving the desk

Whilst Radio 2 is mainly back to normal, it seems Friday Night is now Sunday Night when it comes to Music Night and it isn't clear if this is a permenant move, or what it means for Claudia Winkleman who is usually on then on R2. I doubt this will be answered until next year as she is usually off in the Autumn due to Strictly

With Mayo and Kermode - having this much time off is nothing new, Simon and Mark always have August off the Film Review show on Five Live..

Presumably been far fewer films to review anyway.
