Back to recorded shows and I'm guessing Countdown can't have long left. This week they've begun airing episodes featuring a post-pregnant Rachel which were filmed at the beginning of March. On the 19th it was announced they'd continue without an audience but with Nick being in his mid-70s I'd have thought they'd have had to stop not long after that.

Quick working out. They tape 5 shows per day, and they record on 3/4 days per week for 3 weeks per recording block?

A halt to recording mid March, so they were recording for 10 days max = 10 weeks puts enough conundrums and three from the top please, Rachel, to get them to early June.
They could drop down to tx'ing 3-4 new episodes per week, but that would get them through to the end of June.

I wonder if Channel 4 are airing disclaimers as Countdown used to make a big point of saying what day it was as if it was live (although to be fair I’ve not seen it much since Richard Whiteley’s days so they may not do that anymore)

Not sure if anyone's mentioned this in the thread but Hollyoaks is only on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday as of next week. The 18:30 slot on Thursday and Friday is another Simpsons episode.

However, on E4 they're broadcasting 'Hollyoaks Favourites' from tomorrow night at 7.00pm

Countdown doesn’t seem to be day specific anymore. In fact Monday’s episode was the first one filmed after Rachel Riley gave birth, joking that she had a very busy weekend which stretched out over two and a half months. I believe those recordings only resumed recently. One wonders how much Countdown they’ve got recorded, as Nick Hewer must be self isolating giving his age.

Surely the reference to a busy weekend means it IS day specific?

I take it Have I Got News For You will be filmed without an audience, which in turn will seem somewhat boring? Unless the series is going to be shelved? New series is scheduled to begin on Friday.

In that case yes, but quite often from when I’ve watched it of late the day isn’t mentioned.

From next week they're dropping the Wednesday episode as well.

Would make more sense IMO for them to opt for Tue/Thu and see if they can pick up a bit of an audience on the nights the ITV soaps aren't airing.

They're recording it tonight with everyone at home using a HIGNFY backdrop. Steph McGovern is this week's host, who will be using her set-up for The Steph Show.

Back in the day, they used to mention the day and the date, there would be maybe a fact, or some silly puns about what day it was. They’d make up a story about what they’d got up to at the weekend, that sort of thing.

Of course you don’t get that on the other daytime quizzes like The Chase

The situation is now so personally grim for so many in any direction you look that I really can't see there being much to jest about. I know too many people now who really are at the end of their tether and won't respond to the current situation being played for laughs.

What if they instead joke about something serious that doesn't affect you? Would that be ok by you?
