Joe Lycett said on Twitter that his appearance on the show last week was from a recording made a very long time ago.

The best thing about the show is that it is not a satirical comedy show. It does not rely on news as its base for the show, it is simply a racy version of usual Countdown. I have watched episodes from 2015 and they still feel fresh now in 2021.

Here was Joe's Tweet about being on the show.

My guess is these episodes were filmed in January 2020, as I do remember SRO Audiences sending me an email asking if I wanted free tickets to their recordings. They film two episodes in a day at the Dock10 Studios in Salford.

Both Emmerdale and Corrie have shut down production briefly. Emmerdale paused production last week following positive tests but is due to resume next week, whilst Corrie is taking a two week production break. In both cases the number of episodes delivered won't be affected.

So Emmerdale is isolating and Corrie's doing rewrites. I wonder if they'll address the current lockdown?

If I was in charge of the storylines, I'd keep it as vague as possible and avoid references to specific information around tiers, vaccines, lockdowns, etc. They cannot possibly reflect what's going on for the viewer "now" when they're filming a couple of months before the date of transmission. As a good example of this difficulty, look at a few months back when the tier system was introduced and the north west was placed into the (then) highest tier, and yet people on Coronation Street were still going about their business, having people stay over at their houses, etc, because it was all filmed well before the tier system was dreamt up. It's too changeable a situation in my opinion for them to even bother trying to provide a representative view of it and in any case, bar the basics of having people distanced and wearing masks accordingly, I personally think soaps should be acting as much-needed escapism for people with as few references to the virus in general.
With TVForum coming to a close, you can keep in touch and enjoy my ill-informed ramblings, contextless quotes, and other general vacuous drivel on Twitter: @DavidWhitfield4. Don't all rush at once.

Did any dramas before this pandemic ever reflect real life?

Of course we watch drama and soaps and whatever else to get away from real world crap. If we want to watch reality we'll watch the news.

Why would they? By the time the episodes they’re re-writing get shown the rules will probably have changed again. Better to be vague - they’ll never be able to get in sync with the real world until all restrictions are lifted again.

I think that’s for the best, it also might help fill the talent pool up a bit more for 2022
