Bad news for Peter Levy...apparently the BBC have cancelled Still Open All Hours and it won’t be returning due to Covid ruining plans to film a final ‘wrap up’ series

Given that a lot of the cast are very old, they probably felt it would be too risky filming a new series during the pandemic, and so quietly axe it now.

I've never watched a full episode of SOAH. Personally I don't understand "reboots". Its worth pointing out that David Jason is 80 and Stephanie Cole is 78 and not in the first flush of youth so in terms of their health its perhaps a good idea to bring the series to a close. Its lasted for 7 years so in cricket terms its had a good innings.

I loved the original but not a fan of this, but I think it served them well as a Last of the Summer Wine replacement, and there should be space to do that on the BBC, even if it's just for six half hours a year.

Not surprised any plans for a final series have been ditched due to COVID though considering the ages of the cast, though would be nice if they could at least film a special in a year or two just to finish the series.
Turns out nobody had 2020 vision.

That is one thing about it, it was a lot less like the original Open All Hours, and more like LOTSW, just set in a shop in Doncaster rather than Holmfirth, with all the wacky schemes and stunts, and the scenes with the gossipy women.

A BBC source has told the British Comedy Guide that this is false. Make of it what you will

I imagine the reality is that it's been postponed until covid restrictions are lifted, and someone got their wires crossed.

Mrs Browns Boys Christmas Special is planned to go ahead according to Brendan O'Carroll's son Danny, so I wonder how that will look, as that show depends a lot on the live studio audience, including the usual faked corpsing and fluffing their lines, which we know are 90% written into the script by Brendan.

Maybe a Mrs Browns Boys Christmas Special will have a look and feel of their movie version for this Christmas instead?

Also, 2020 marks the last year of Brendan's contract with the BBC to provide annual Christmas specials of the now boring and milked dry show.

Haven’t we suffered enough this year?

Do we know if they actually fake the corpsing or is that your personal opinion disguised as fact?

Not a personal opinion at all. I have been to the stage shows of theirs. When I went to them, they had the corpsing and line fluffing, and when friends went to the stage show a week later or so to see it, they reported the exact same corpsing and line fluffing.

I have had friends attend the recordings at BBC Scotland, and they reported back the line fluffing and corpsing was the same, because the show actually records two versions of each episode.
