Its has been reported that the talk shows Wendy Williams. and Dr Phil will tape with no studio audience. Also long-running game shows Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune will record with no studio audience. I cant see this being a problem for the gameshows as shots of the audience were rare if ever shown. And they could use clap-tracks or whatever. But the talk shows will be interesting. Wendy Williams was a radio host for 20 years before her talk show so she is used to speaking just into a mic, but it will be interesting to see how the show is produced without the audience which is a big part of her show. Are there any other programmes being affected by CoronaVirus?

I've seen mention of Italian stations using graphics to make it clear that programmes being shown with a studio audience were recorded before the outbreak.

I know that both of the main networks in the Philippines have stopped having studio audiences as of this week, I'm sure it's the case in other countries too.

In the UK at the moment it's only really live sport that is being affected, not only with cancellations and postponements but also some presenters and commentators remaining in the UK when usually they'd be overseas. I'm sure we'll see more changes in the coming weeks.

My guess is Countdown will be on the list.

Brekkie mentioned in the BigBrother Canada 8 thread that Big Brother Italy (Grande Fratello) live shows do not have an audience for the live evictions. It will be interesting to see how this list changes as COVID-19 spreads.

Well TMZ is reporting that FOX gameshow Mental Samurai has cancelled plans to shoot the 2nd series on an identical set in Madrid due to the virus. (Apparently there is a Spanish version) Instead it will shoot on the set they used for 1st series in Burbank CA. Apparently they were saving money by flying the host and contestants to Spain to shoot the series. Very unusual, but not unheard of for American game shows. Especially these limited-run seasonal stunt game shows like Mental Samurai, that have huge sets.

TV shows in New York, were a suburb has become a hot spot, have forgone studio audiences. Effective today all ABC TV studio programs filmed in NY will not have an audience which includes Live with Kelly & Ryan, The View, the second hour of GMA (which is upstairs with an audience), GMA 3 (which is at 1 PM with an audience upstairs) and the Tamron Hall Show (but today’s show was filmed yesterday). Dr. Oz which is taped that ABC’s YV Center but is not affiliated with ABC/Walt Disney in any way appeared to be audience less today along with The Wendy Williams Show which is filmed elsewhere.

With these audience cancellations I wonder if The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon and Late Night with Seth Meyers will forego audiences as well. If I recall some of them (under prior hosts) went audience less during Hurricane Katrina.

Live and The View’s audience was filled with about a dozen producers. I’m sure the late night shows could fill a decent amount of seats as they tape when the work day is over and staffers can fill the seats.

Additionally a Telemundo Producer based 30 Rock who I follow on Instagram showed pages or interns trying to give tickets away to Riverdance at Radio City Music Hall but they appeared unsuccessful. Normally that shows booked up.

Here is The View that just aired from NYC with no audience. The crew and staff clapped and made noise. Even though its a serious situation. I like how they showed the empty seats and didnt try to trick the viewers or ignore the fact there is no audience. It is what it is. There is no audience, address and move on.
