Is there a website or app that is curating non virus news stories? I'd certainly use it at the moment!

I've changed my viewing/listening habits completely. I used to begin the day with BBC Breakfast, then after work it would be the 6 on BBC 1, the brilliant Iain Dale Newshour on LBC at seven and then a couple of hours of non News viewing followed by the headlines from BBC 10 o'clock. I would usually fall asleep to 5 Live.
In the first week of working from home, I decided to stop watching the BBC 10 news and listening to 5 Live. It neither produced a relaxing end to the day and sleep was impossible. Now having been furloughed, I dip in and of Twitter & BBC News app during the day, then watch the BBC news at 6, that's it.
I've also decided to not look at news or social media after 8pm, and go to sleep listening to Magic Radio!
Seems to work for me.

We noticed that much of the content on BBC Breakfast, gets re-cycled throughout the day anyway, (it always did I suspect ?), so really there's no point watching it.

We mostly consumed TV news from the BBC. That's changed now to a split between ITV/GMB, BBC, and C4.

I'm watching more of BBC Breakfast, and it pays off with editions like this morning's, with Captain Tom completing his challenge live on air. It also has been continuing to get very healthy viewing figures, albeit in unfortunate circumstances, however much it is perceived as the "un-trendy" choice on here.

Expect Piers to now turn on Captain Tom for not completing his challenge on GMB... Wink

I've become a little lazy during this lockdown and now I don't have to be up for anything, don't usually rise until around 9am. I've started watching Lorraine more and more. To be honest I used to find her quite fake but having watched her over the last few weeks, can honestly say she is actually one of the most down to Earth people ever to appear on TV. Her on screen relationship with Dr Piers has been second to none. I've even started watching This Morning on a regular basis, to be honest I prefer Eamonn & Ruth to Philip & Holly. I must admit I find the latter quite annoying and Holly's laugh sometimes goes right through me. I can't stand Loose Women so then turn to the BBC for the News at One. I then watch the News Channel for a couple of hours as I need my Simon McCoy comedy fix, just in time for the Coronavirus update. Then the News at Six, then a quick look at the BBC News Channel a few times throughout the evening to see if I've missed anything. In the evenings i find I'm watching more TV than Netflix and computer games. I watched Coronation Street properly for the first time in years last night and Quiz is probably the most gripping drama I've found in a very long time.

Nice My Hero reference. I think.

I'm barely watching any news at the moment. I might have a check online after the daily briefing to see if there are any major changes, which usually there aren't. There seems to be a particular cycle between "Restrictions could be over in weeks" and "Restrictions could be in place for a year" depending on what expert has been interviewed that day.

This whole situation just highlights how unhelpful rolling news can be. We're a world that is apparently more aware of mental health issues, and yet think it's fine to roll our hours of speculation just to fill a bit of airtime or get a few more clicks. I think there needs to be some tighter regulation in the future because the amount of times I've seen a "news" article shared on social media where the headline has little bearing on the content of the article is ridiculous.

The way the daily death toll has been reported by some quarters is a particular disgrace. They've known full well that in recent weeks the deaths have been people that caught the virus before we went into lockdown and yet that is rarely made clear in articles, and almost never in headlines.

I used to love My Hero as a kid. My favourite characters were Mrs Raven and the self obsessed Dr Piers (there's something about that name). It was James Dreyfus who ruined it for me as he just wasn't Thermoman. Changing the lead actor was just stupid as it changed the whole feel of the show. They should have ended it when Ardal O'Hanlon left.
