watched an old episode of alright on the night with a friend and saw the clip from corrie when they had the earthquake during the scene with sally having her house decorated. (back on 2002 when they had an earthquake in manchester).

my friend reckons it was a set up and not the actual eathquake caught on camera.

i'm not sure, it's hightly likely they were filming when it happened, but it's also likely they weren't and just filmed a spoof earthquake on the scene they were about to record or had just recorded.

what do you think?

I'm pretty sure it was a genuine earthquake... after all there wasn't just one, there was a series of them at regular intervals in the Manchester area over the course of a week in late 2002. There were so many in fact that it would have been odd had they not been filming during one.

No, I remember one of them happened where I live and it was in the afternoon. It lasted barely five seconds but it was scary.

There was a widespread earthquake in the early hours of Monday September 23rd 2002, the epicentre somewhere in the West Midlands and it measured just under 5 on the richter scale. It spread as far as North Yorkshire. That's the only one I remember.

EDIT: That's the one onetrickpony. The epicentre was Dudley in the West Midlands.

It was a genuine earthquake, I was in Manchester the very day it happened, in a building and to me it felt like it was going to collapse. It happened a month after the ones in the West Midlands.

And the outtake is genuine.

Yes the Manchester tremor was a month after the large earthquake that woke a lot of the country. IMO, the outtake is genuine. I can't see why it would be a set up - wating time and money on that.

The first earthquake was at about 930 am and that was followed by a staggering 52 aftershocks that went on for about 4 weeks after the first quake. - SAD fact!!!! (I'm sure I read that the MEN when they were revieweing the year - in the Christmas/New Year edition of the paper)

Try being on the 13th floor of an office block, in the city centre - behind the BIG HMV shop in Market Street, when it happened !?
