He was a true genius who captured the words of Northern folk so beautifully. Anyone who hasn't seen those first 12 episodes needs to find them on YouTube or DVD and watch them.
Hard to imagine a world where there was never an Elsie Tanner or an Ena Sharples.
Lovely, subtle tribute from the ITV team. Using the pigeons ident into Corrie and dedicating tonights episode to Tony.
Corrie isn't at the top of its game at the moment, and personally I'd became a little tired of it in recent weeks. To the point where I'd stop watching.
However, when I heard the news today I was very sad - particularly because I loved 'The Road to Coronation St' on BBC Four. Tony seemed like a wonderful man and a man with huge imagination. I'm sure Corrie will carry on for many, many more years, and hopefully its current state is just a dip. I know the show has had them before and has always risen to prominence.
It would be nice if we got a repeat of the first episode of Coronation Street. Or at the very least The Road to Coronation Street could get an airing on ITV.
Either way ITV pretty much owe Warren a lot of recognition for it still being around today, as I think without Coronation Street the outlook for ITV and indeed Granada could have been very different.

RIP Tony Warren, an inspiration to those of us who wish to work in the industry one day.

The Road To Corrie is a brilliantly written piece of drama. Truly beautiful. I do hope it gets another airing. The battle with Granada to get it commissioned is fascinating.
