saw this in the paper earlier - though it was intresting

ITV has created a 3D version of Coronation Street's opening titles.
The sequence, which features scenes from the famous Manchester cobbles, could be used for special programmes.

The move coincides with the show's 50th anniversary later this year.

But the broadcaster said it had no plans to shoot whole episodes of the soap in 3D.

ITV has also shot 3D scenes for Emmerdale and The Jeremy Kyle Show.

I suppose its future-proofing the current set of titles... but still it's a little odd. Perhaps its for a cinema trailer?

yeah I expect it' more for cinema - by the time ITV get a 3D channel ( if 3D ever gets big enough), it would be time for new titles!! Laughing

I was thinking that I wonder if there will be a new trailer - like the Tony "dark side" one - to promote the 9pm episodes and Tony's exit? I hope so - i thought that tralier was great!

Lastly - is it just me or has there been a few strange camera shots tonight - like the one from inside the window of Ken's and the sweeping camera shot of the street to zoom in to david and graeme!
Also, the new ( well i think it is) Corrie street sign sting at the end of the first episode? In preperation for the change?

I noticed the new shots. They looked good, especially swooping one.

The through the window of Blanche's parlour shot as Ken and Deidrie left the house was a bit odd.

Izzy is a good addition to the cast, only let down by the fact her character gives Kirk airtime. Incidentally, what's happened to Gail's dad ? When was the last time we saw him, is he axed ?

So it wasn't just me who thought it was a bit odd! Laughing

I think mabye his either near enough been axed and just coming back for big episodes i.e. weddings from now on or just having a extended holiday.
Although on some website the was a photo of Gail's trial , and the people i.e. Audury in the background - Ted wasn't their. I think the last time we saw him was around January - Gail's wedding.

I notice they cut away when she was meant to be going in to the factory in her wheelchair. How did she get in? Aren't there steps just outside? Are they going to have no scenes where we see her go in to the factory?

That's a good point... I would've though such a factory would have to provide access for wheelchairs though (be legally obliged) Confused Good to have Izzy on board, glad they haven't brought her in just for as a 'token' character, which sadly can happen in sometimes in soaps.

I actually like Kirk, shoot me now. I thought some his scenes with Carla were funny last night, although I think Graeme is starting to overshadow Kirk as the 'clown' figure-- plus there's more to Graeme! He definitely should get together with Tina, I say.

Looking at those photos, I'm thinking just how far from reality is Coronation Street? Do streets like that actually exist anymore?

Blimey, everything on The Street looks so minuscule in real life. (even though its expected)

Yes, they most certainly do, and they're not just confined to northern England.

The first house I bought contained similar features. A row of terraced houses, some more modern ones opposite. A pub on the corner (almost). There was even a small car repair business, although that was on the next street! Wink

PS: Great pics, Jez!

Thanks

On the photos they look more like they do on tv but when I first entered the Street I was shocked how short it was from one end to the other and how small the houses looked. By the end id got used to it though.

great pics Jez, did they say how they'd upgraded the set for Hd as it's not noticeable on the photos

they will have to sort out the side of the rovers now they have those side windows on the indoor set either side of the chimney, outside there is only room for one as the side door is where the other window is on the inside

it was interesting viewing the set from the museum (you can't now they've blocked the windows off Sad ) as some people would take ages to suddenly realise what it was they were looking at, thinking it was a row of little houses, and when told it's the corry set would say 'it can't be, it's too small.'

They are also going to build a new street further down Victoria Street (passed Victoria Court and running alongside the big Warehouse building.) Whether this is meant to be just down the road from Coronation Street in the storyline or whether it is just a set for somewhere else in Weatherfield (if you get what I mean) I don't know. I do know they are hoping to cut down on the amount of location filming - stuff like Dev and Sunita's wedding, where Liam was killed and the enterance to Carla's flat (which is actually the enterance to where they film the inside scenes) have been filmed in the Granada complex as its much easier and less expensive to go on location so they will be looking to have more of 'Weatherfield' in the Granada complex by the sound of it.

This sounds really exciting, I love it when they add on parts of the set Very Happy Are they starting work on it yet or are they just planning? Smile

Hello everyone by the way, I'm new Laughing
