I've read reports that 'HD ready' tv's will not receive HD signals so will we still be able to see HD programmes

That's kinda old news, basically Freeview HD uses DVB-T2 & H.264 to encode HD channels, whereas Freeview uses DVB-T and MPEG2 for Standard Definition. So in order to receive Freeview HD on an HD Ready TV you'll need an additional FreeviewHD set top box. That also depends on if the local transmitter has been converted or has the capacity as yet.

Or just get Sky+HD, Freesat HD and V+HD

And when you have an HD receiver, you need to tune into the HD version of the channel, which according to BARB very few are actually doing!!

By reading the ratings published on MediaGuardian, at the moment this is quite true.

I think the World Cup might be the turning point for HD, it's certainately why I've upgraded my standard Samsung V Box for a new V HD box, and I know several people who are doing similar.

I've only had it a couple of days so far, but there isn't too much on ITV1 HD, but adding Corrie to the line-up will certainately give it a well needed boost.

I know ITV like to promote ITV1 HD where ever possible, but they do need to tell people where ITV1 HD is on the EPG, I can imagine some people who have their new Sky HD/V HD/Freeview HD STBs who will simply stick it on ITV1 expecting a better picture.

Coronation Street producers have confirmed that the show's opening titles will be overhauled for the first time in eight years ready for the switch to high definition later this month.

Details as to the nature of the new title sequence have yet to be released but programme makers Granada this afternoon announced that the new look will showcase from May 31.

A spokesperson for the soap told DS: "Coronation Street will be having new opening titles shot in HD, further details of which will be announced soon."

In September, EastEnders revamped its titles for the first time in a decade, introducing a HD-compatible 3D map, complete with Thames boat and moving clouds.

Tracy is brilliantly funny tonight. Genius having Gail and Tracy together.

I think this is an awful storyline and she's an awful actress personally. She's way over-dramatic and often cringe-worthy

I agree with this to be honest. It's a very sloppy storyline and Kate Ford seems to have returned as a worse actress than before for some reason.

I'm concentrating more on Graeme, I think Craig Gazey is amazing: How he manages to be sensitive and caring, but daft at the same time.

What she left Norris in her will was the best bit. And Norris's come back that they still need to pay for 3 weeks worth of Puzzle Monthly.

thanks for the info

I'm on freeview via a local relay (get all the channels except ITV 3 and ITV 4) but basically I'll still be able to watch corry but not in HD

With the right equipment you should be able to get ITV HD as that is why many channels were moved around last year to ensure the HD mux was universally available, even though I suspect many in those areas would rather have the full portfolio of BBC, ITV, C4 and Five channels before HD.

Central News viewers may have spotted Emma Jesson by the duke box of the Rovers on Thursday night, during the Ken/Deirdre scene (yes it really was her!)
