Jack Duckworth is leaving Corrie, according to today's Daily Mirror.

Confirmed.

Hope he has a happy retirement bless him.

Well, those hacks at the Daily Mirror would say something that wouldn't they?

No doubt viewers will be left reeling as well!

It was on the cards the moment they had to kill off Vera really. The Duckworths came as a package really and although Mags from Children's Ward is a great actress, it's just not the same. Hope he enjoys retirement.

He'd semi-retired anyway so it's not a big shock.

I imagine they'll tie his exit into the 50th anniversary.

Although I find it amazing that Willaim Roache is 77 ( he nowhere looks that) and William Tarmey (Jack) is only 69 !

I suppose Bill Tarmey's health problems have aged him somewhat. The BBC website has said there will be a "fitting" ending for him. Given that Vera died, I would like to Jack emmigrate somewhere nice with Connie Smile

Wow! Really can't believe Roache is 77. He looks in his early sixties, I met him (and his late wife) at a function a couple of years ago, and he looks just as young.

Remember thinking that his wife died at a cruelly young age, but I guess she must have been in her seventies as well.

(CORRECTION - his wife was actually only 5Cool

Sad to hear this news but I guess it was on the cards anyway - I wish him a happy retirement.

This has no doubt been asked before, but to save me scrolling back and reading 984 pages(!)...

Does anyone know if different versions of the 'hour long' Monday and Friday episodes are produced for overseas sales, ie. so every half hour episode has an opening and closing credits sequence?
