I'm quite looking forward to this...

It doesn't say whether she's going to be a full-time addition or not, but she's a great actress, and hopefully should provide some good scenes... probably alongside Rita, Norris and Emily.

About time too... she'll make a great a comic foil! I can imagine her as a long lost relative of Graeme or something!

So Simon and Emmerdale's Tootsie are both missing all weekend! Shocked

I wouldn't want to be missing in Blackpool, it's all full of stag and hen do's thesedays, especially out of season.

I'm wondering when they filmed these scenes because wouldn't all the attractions on the front be closed at this time of year, I suppose they may have filmed it at February Half Term.

There's windows at the side of The Rovers?

There's windows at the side of The Rovers?

You can just make out the upstairs windows on the side of the Rovers in this pic of the outdoor set circa 1982:

But in a more recent shot they've added a window and door on the ground floor (not to mention another viaduct!):

EDIT:
On looking again, the door may be visible on the first pic, but mainly hidden in the recessed part of the wall.

Seems like the new producer is living in the past, if the News of the World is to be believed anyway.

Kevin Kennedy (Curly), Sherrie Hewson (Maureen) and Richard Fleeshman (Craig) also mentioned too - but really why would any of those characters have any reason to return?

that side door has always been there but when Liz used it it was the first time it's been used on screen (it's meant to be the kitchen door despite looking like it goes straight into the bar (which it does)

the upper side window in the old pic is a double sided window which is also visible from the rear yards, it's purpose is to create the onscreen illusion that the building goes down the side as well, when in fact it's just a wall with false windows in it. In the rovers yard there is another false window in this side wall but we rarely see it on screen as it's opposite the smoking shelter so effectectivly behind the camera

the side windows I mentioned suddenly appeared in the indoor set either side of the fire place (one of them technically being in the same place as the previously mentioned door on the outdoor set Confused

maybe if they move the corry set to media city they'll have the space to create a more visually convincing out door set

talking of the outdoor sets, how often did they use the rear yards on the original set, onlty time I remember is when Elsie's house caught fire and Hilda was outside hanging washing and could smell burning (stan was on the outdoor lavvy)

Oh dear. Julie Goodyear is talentless and the pantomime character she played went past its sell-by-date long before she finally left the programme in 1995. She was never the nation's favourite landlady, any more than the Queen Mother was the nation's favourite grandmother.

These are just meaningless titles attached to people with no other discernable raison d'ĂȘtre.

I had to stop watching when they brought her back for a brief appearance last time. It looks as though I'll have to do the same again!

I think it would be nice to see some of the old characters back - but maybe for just one episode. As a child, I would have fond memories of Bet Lynch. I wasn't mad about Curly at all.

Presumably there's a lot of media spin in all these stories to drum up attention for the anniversary.

What about Mavis, Martin Platt, Redge, Alec Gilroy?
