rather convenient tonight

"What do you know about it Deidre? Apart from what you've read in the back of Take A Break magazine"

What do you mean by this?

Product placement? But Corrie have been doing this for a few years now, only it's become more obvious in recent weeks I notice.

Product placement is a good thing in my opinion as it adds realism. Paid product placement may not be so good as it could detract from realism for commercial reasons. I did wonder if Michael W was suggesting that Take A Break paid to be mentioned in Coronation Street. It would be surprising if they had paid to be mentioned in a disparaging way like that though. Nintendo would have been a better example to bring up as it now seems that Simon not only has the Wii he got for Christmas but has also picked up a battery powered Nintendo too, probably a DS of some kind.

There was magical snow towards the end of Corrie last night, in the scene when Peter went to pick up Simon in the evening, there was no snow outisde and then when Ken and Deidre walked up, there was a fair bit of snow falling and then in the next scene there was no snow at all.

Yes. I also realise the fact I remembered the Magazine name means the PP worked.

This dev / sunita story is just so pathetic, like you're just going to let two relatives hell bent on getting their own way make you change your whole life for a week Rolling Eyes

Is there a story? Dev always seems to rush around the screen like a silent Charlie Chaplin on speed whenever I watch him! Wink

Seriously though...have they already implemented the policy of product placement so soon after Ofcom's approval?

If so, I can't say I took any notice! Shocked

If you ever want a woman's magazine with poorly researched articles on alcoholics you will know where to go. The advertising worked!

It could happen. Don't you remember when Apu had to pretend to be married to Marge because his Mum was visiting him in Springfield?

I thought Sunita's aunties were quite amusing!!

Seen both actresses before - have they been in Corrie before playing these charcters?

I believe one of the aunt's was in the Kumars at Number 42?

There may well be lots of continuity problems with the snow on screen in the next couple of weeks I suspect!

Yes and yes - I also remember Indira Joshi from the Kumars. She's appeared in Corrie before, probably ten or so years ago playing a completely different character: Dev's aunt (I think her character's last name at the time was Desai?). The other actress played Dev's mother in 2004 during the whole Maya storyline. There must be a real shortage of decent Indian actors then, I assume, as we even had Dev's father from 2004 coming back a few years later playing Prem.

you are making a very big assumption that i actually watch the simpsons Confused

I agree there is a funny sortage of Indian actors when they have to get the same people to play different characters, we'll probably see Dev's children turning up at Joshua's birthday party as his two best friends

anyway noticed the snow as well, it's been doing the same in Emmerale where the village is snowbound but there's none at home farm

Scenes get filmed out of sequence - often weeks later. Not a lot they can do about that.
