Mavis would need Rita personally to bounce off & as Rita is off on a cruise somewhere(to cover for Barbara Knox's current ill health!) indefinetly, this wouldn't work!
What is the situation with Barbara's health currently? Good ? Bad ? Indifferent? Are we ever likely to ever see her back?
(You could ask the same question over Richard Thorp aka Alan Turner from Emmerdale, as Alan rode off into the sunset with his old biker friend (Paul Darrow from 'Blakes 7'), so Richard could take time out(I've heard it's leukemia?).)
I would love to see Mavis return although I think your right and Thelma Barlow has said she wont return - same with Jean Alexander. Hopefully they will change their mind for the 50th anniversary in December.

As far as I know Barbara is due back filming early this year so should be back on screen in the Spring- however its all gone very quiet and ive not heard anything about her recently so I don't know.
Since Rita and Blanche have been off screen we have seen more of Betty - I hope they do something special to celebrate her 90th Birthday next month.
Speaking of Emmerdale, the other night Viv and Pollard were talking about the Plane Crash - im guessing they are the only still on screen from that episode with Alan being off screen. The Dingles I think were living there but werent seen on screen until after the crash.

I believe she's getting a big storyline soon.
Yes and it can be very sore!

I thought it was quite funny actually and the references stopped really after about ten minutes into the first episode.
PS: Did anyone else get irritated by constant references to the film
'Escape to Victory'
in last night's episodes? Was the film even shown on ITV, or was it just a pathetic attempt to pad out an already limp excuse for two episodes?

Shame Harry Hill isn't on this week, he would have ripped that to bits!

It was great to see Jake back in Corrie in the New Years Eve episode but a bit pointless really if they arent going to make him a regular character. The writers only seemed to bring him back in a plot device where Michelle caught Ryan and Sian together and showed how hypocritcal she is lecturing Ryan when she was about to go off to a hotel with Jake who is someone she hardly knows.

You could order a weekly audio version of Radio Times and giggle your way through the humorous listings for quite a few hours each week, no doubt.
I thought it was pointless, and happened at least 4 times to my knowledge. However, I can't be certain as I was fast-forwarding though many scenes because I have the urge to cringe uncontrollably whenever 'Shouty Dev' comes on screen!

Yes, you've mentioned you do that that. A couple of times.
I think you're doing the actor a disservice myself, but it sounds as if you've turned editing him out of the show into a bit of a sport. But that's up to you, of course.
Although you can't legitimately keep attacking his performance if you haven't seen it since you had that blessed Sky+ box installed.
