What a great find! Id not seen that before. Nice to see Lynne Carol who played Martha - I think she died a few years after Margot did. Also Eileen giving an interview is very rare indeed.
Thanks very much.
Yes that was brilliant as a wee bit of bedtime watching last night.
I had no idea how on the nail that Victoria Wood sketch was - the three of them were spot on, not to mention the bar and the Annie Walker lookalike in the background.
Margo sounded a "diva", before such a term existed.
I think she was Gavin! In both Lynne Perrie and Betty Drivers autobiographies they make reference to Margot being like that!

As it's quiet on here tonight.. thought this may be of interest to some. A YouTube link to a classic documentary presented by Kenneth Cope about the death of Margot Bryant (who played Minnie Caldwell) in 1988.

Even features a rare interview with Eileen Derbyshire.

It seems theres quite a bit of Classic Corrie on YouTube at the moment (how long before ITV take it all down.. that's the annoying thing). There's a classic episode from 1973 somewhere and the opening of The Kabin with Rita looking perplexed at people wanting the 'Pig Breeders Monthly'.
And as today is the 49th anniversary before the big 50 (obviously!).. the first episode: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_7Z3046_dg Plenty more on that channel.

If Deirdre's voice gets any lower she'll be belting out the classic hits of Barry White before long.

It's in distinct danger of coming into the frequency range of 'brown noise'. When that happens, we're all in trouble.

Aw. Tonight's episode aired here on Showtime (Guy Fawkes' Night) was an awesome episode and had some really good (and touching) lines from Blanche (Maggie). In fact, there was one particular lingering shot of her when Deirdre actually admitted to the full house (Simon's "other" grandad was being introduced to the Barlows) that her mother was precious and that she was lucky to still have her around.
That was just moments after Blanche being mistaken for Deirdre and pretending that Deirdre was actually the cleaner, Edna! ROTFLMAO.
"OK. You can go now. See you tomorrow."
RIP, Maggie/Blanche. You played a belter!

Well, according to this page: http://rail-news.com/2009/12/22/first-new-manchester-tram-enters-service/
So looks like they will be updating the titles, maybe change a few other bits at the same time?

The Corrie titles are out of date and ambiguous anyway, so I doubt they are going to alter them on account of the Metrolink trams getting a lick of yellow paint.
T'Corner shop still has the pre-bomb frontage (after quite a few years) and the overhead (CGI) shot of the street environs conveniently forgets the black-bricked bridge/viaduct/tramway which is shown as being at the side of the Rovers in a later part of the same sequence.

It was also revealed that the Metrolink tram that appears in the opening credits of Coronation Street will receive the new Metrolink livery in due course.

Surely the Norris lookalike shop assistant storyline is just a wee bittie over the top...........how long does he last? Now that Rita seems to have vanished, it would be a great storyline if Mavis Riley/Wilton moved back into Coronation Street and took over as the new owner of The Kabin. Mavis' character wasn't killed-off, was she?
ST
No, she runs a bed and breakfast in Kendal and Rita's absences have often been attributed to visiting her, so presumably the character is still supposed to be alive and thriving in the wilds of Cumbria!
However, I believe that Thelma Barlow (the actress who played dithering Mavis) has always insisted that she wouldn't return, even for special events.
PS: Did anyone else get irritated by constant references to the film 'Escape to Victory' in last night's episodes? Was the film even shown on ITV, or was it just a pathetic attempt to pad out an already limp excuse for two episodes?
