Question is what will ITV do with the episodes that she is still appearing in.
I imagine they'll do a little tribute to Maggie Jones at the end of tonight's episode. Really sad news, especially since she had appeared to have recovered from the bout of ill health earlier this year.
Things certainly won't be the same chez Barlow, or on The Street in general, without Blanche's sharp observations.
This one always makes me laugh...

Well, last night, it was announced she was at the One O'clock club and rang Deirdre deciding not to get a taxi back. Whether this is where she's been written out or not, I'm not sure.
I don't think there are anymore with her in. Betty seemed to play a scene written for Blanche in the hairdresser's last week, so I expect that was the start of her absence. She will be sadly missed.

Yes I thought that scene was more Blanche than Betty (and Betty isnt in it much herself) - also Deirdre took a phone call from Blanche in last nights or Monday nights episode (I lose track with them moving the eps here there and everywhere) so I think we have seen her final scenes.
I hope they do a proper tribute for Maggie - a half hour show with interviews with cast and clips of Blanche's best scenes!
It's been confirmed that her final scenes have already been on air - IIRC it was when she was drunkenly revealing all the family secrets to Simon's granddad.
Very sad news. Humour comes from many quarters on the Street, but no-one can begin to replace her uniquely cutting appraisals.
It didn't take much, but once she got the juices flowing she was impossible to stop! Who can forget her lambasting the dysfunctionality of the whole Barlow clan at Peter's Alcoholics Anonymous meeting? Or the way she recently provided drunken unflattering potted summaries of each of her embarrassed family in front of Simon's errant grandfather?
Those were just two stand out moments among so many more well-timed barbs.
For such a terrific servant, was it a poor show from ITV to not show a tribute slide at the end of tonight's episode? I thought so.
They may, I suppose, have a more fulsome tribute planned for later in the week, but on the day of her sad passing would it have been too much to at least have had silent end credits, uninterrupted by those invasive programme adverts?

Such sad news about Maggie. There have been some really touching tributes in the news, giving the impression that the cast were truly very fond of her.
I'll really miss Blanche. She was one of my favourite ever Corrie characters. You knew as soon as she appeared that you were in for a good scene.
I expect the scenes when they write her out will be very moving, particularly with the knowledge that Maggie has died. I remember Jean Alexander saying how the tears that she shed as Hilda when Stan died were genuine tears for Bernard Youens who had played him and had died not long before.
Tonights episode will be dedicated to Maggie according to the Corrie Twitter. They didn't do it last night so it wasn't to be too shocking for viewers last night who may have not heard the news.

A really great scene to be her last!
Actually it seems like those were the last scenes she filmed. But because they film out of sync she'll appear on screen again next Monday and Friday for the final time, according to Digital Spy.
