I actually found the girls night out ,Sean and Jason, and Frankies (she's growing on me now) bits were excellent tonight. I'm not looking forward to the poker game - this was done annually by EastEnders in the early years (and probably still is!?) zzzzzzzz

Charlie is a real bas*@$^ !

Hasn't there been a poker game earlier in the year on Corrie with Blanche,Emily, Rita, Norris and Audrey playing in the Rovers? BTW It was very funny!

Is it me or does Frankie's hair keep changing throughout the episodes tonight - one minute its staright and then its permed and wavey!!! Apart from that a great ending !!!!

Overall, I was a little disappointed. The actual scenes with Dev / Maya / Sunita were very good, but the whole real-time '24' style just meant the episodes lacked the pace that would have really got me on the edge of my seat. For much of the time it seemed that the ladies' night out was the main focus and Maya's Mad Monday was a sub-plot along with the Sean / Kelly storyline.

Okay, so I'm nit-picking, but I felt that it'd been deliberately stretched out as a ratings ploy to guarantee 'I'm A Celbrity' a big audience (remember last time it started we also had 3 Corrie episodes on a Monday). It could have been as exciting as the final Richard Hillman episode with tighter editing I felt.

Having said that I thought the best line of the evening was "To Deirdre... And All Who Sail In Her!!!" which really made me laugh.

The second episode did seem like a bit of a filler, though these episodes are supposed to be in real time, so I suppose that's why they seemed to drag out things, I suppose.

I'm not even sure last night's episodes could be counted as real time - the girls night out lasted barely more than half an hour.

According to the TV guides, the five episodes from Monday 8.30pm are supposed to be in real time, but that affect didn't come across at all last night. I think "real-time" would work best by sticking to the main story.

The explosions were great though - seven chances to kill Dev off!!! The filler scenes with the girls night out worked well - and were obviously intended to be a trip down memory lane - but the Sean / Kelly thing was just awful.

Sorry guys, but the lack of suspense in these drawn out episodes do nothing me. It's not a patch on the Hilman storyline. Yes we all love Sunita but who gives a damn about Dev and his wooden .... wait for cue... acting?

My favourite bit was the girl's night out, more of this please Corrie and less of the low brow, over the top, "goodness Corrie gets 17.5m for one whole episode" type storylines ta!

I have to admit, the quality of parts of the episode was consistant with a good ITV Drama, but why they had to put in fillers of Vera moaning about her knackered leg is beyond me. Why don't they do what they do with the Bill and actually have specials dedicated to their big storylines, instead of packing them into normal episodes with the other rubbish and having the story take half hour breaks all the time.

I agree with that.
The show would have worked much better, if it had been about Dev in real time finding out what's happening, etc.
And then to actually look at other characters, like the ones in his other shops. The Women on the night out were great, especially for theme to have a trip down memory lane in a way.
But what was that thing about, even if she was drunk, why would she try it on with a guy that she knew was gay? I know it may happen, but it was stupid. I think I'd have prefered to see Sunita getting ready for bed, and then sneaky angles as though looking through the eyes of Maya.

The "real-time" style is for 5 episodes, the first of which was the 10pm showing last night, and concludes with the 10pm showing on Friday. So you need to discount the 8.30pm episode when the ladies initially went off for their night out, by 10pm time had moved on.

Oh and whilst not integral to the main storyline, it was important for the other storyline strands to run whilst Dev got from A to B. I don't think they can fill much time with Sunita getting ready for bed ??!!

Well, it was after 9pm. Maybe they could have had Michael Parkinson call round to keep her company!

does anyone have any pictures of the set in it's current state with the corner shop in ruins?

I was just thinking... Presumably we'll be in for some new (or at least re-edited) opening titles at some point soon given that they prominently feature the corner shop in its pre-explosion state.
