That was a wonderful clip. Was it perhaps the Royal Variety Performance??

Ena Sharples and Elsie Tanner - sheer classic.

I think you're right about it being the Royal Variety, although I'm not entirely sure.

As for Ena and Elsie - this clip is one of my all time favourites: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btDd5qDj7BA

I wonder why - when such a principal character leaves the show - their name doesn't appear first in the roll of credits at the end? Surely such a tribute would be fitting for long serving characters and actors? Along with an extended version of the full-length theme tune?

I agree but since the 1990s they seem to have done the cast in order of appearance on the end credits.

In the 1970s and 1980s Ithink they more or less had it in random order - when Elsie left she was 3rd on the closing credits.

They also only list character's first names, which I always think looks like a kids tv show

history cock-up, Ken said Simon didn't go to his Mam's funeral but Simon said he did when he spoke to the social worker back when the character first appeared Confused

I don't know about anyone else, but besides the 'Barlow's Funeral' bit, I didn't have a clue what was going on with the rest of the episode, why was everyone singing, talking in silly voices and waving canned food around?

"I know this might sound bizarre, but can I borrow a shovel?"

That doesn't sound bizarre. That sounds like quite a normal request to me.
