the front rooms on corry are like the back rooms on eastenders, we don't see them very often if at all

working it out down the terrace
The Barlows front room is Blanche's room,
Emily's is just a rarely used extra room,
Kirk/Fizz et al is knocked through with the lounge at the front
Maria's is also knocked through but with the dining area at the front
The Duckworths / Dobbs is another rarely seen front room
Elleen's is, I think, Sean's room
Peacocks is another rarely used front room, although we did see it when Clare collapsed and Freddie was glued to the sofa (we also saw a lot of it when the Websters lived there)

of course the reason we rarely, if ever see the front rooms is because, due to the camera position, we wouldn't be able to see into the hallways, so they take that room out

Eastenders in comparison has the camera on the opposite wall, at the foot of the stairs when they film in the hallways, but then their houses are a slightly different layout in that all the rooms lead off the hall, whereas in Corry the hallway is shorter with the back room leading into the kitchens (and no space under the stairs Confused )

over the road the Websters / Windarses / Platts are open plan so the front rooms are used as lounges.

Tonight's episode in my area was the Barlow's all attending the Alcoholics Anonymous meeting with Peter. Blanche - totally hilarious character. Love her!

That was one of the funniest episodes I've seen in recent times.

It was a classic indeed. I wish I'd saved that one.

I've haven't noticed any mention on here of the additional sets we have seen over the last week or so.

Emily's Parlour made an appearance last week (although not for the first time); but on Friday I noticed the front room of No.9 for the first time I can remember.

It was tastlessly decorated in true 'Vera style' complete with a 1970/80s sideboard unit and tacky coloured glass ornaments! Very Happy

I was almost transported back to my childhood! Wink

They have always rarely shown the front rooms in the houses - occasionally the rooms have been used as additional bedrooms, as there are only supposed to be 2 bedrooms upstairs in each house, but other than that the rooms are forgotten about and most of the scenes take place in the middle room which is a lot bigger.

Number 5 had both rooms knocked into one in 1977 so that house generally looked more modern than the others after that. I remember Rita wanting Len to do the same to their house, Number 9, but he wouldnt so she had a strop. Then when Number 7 got rebuilt in 1982 (same time as the new set was opened) they moved in there.

we also rarely see the bedrooms
Emily's house and Rita's flat are probably the least used sets

Yes Rita's flat - I cant remember the last time it was on screen. I dont think there is anyone living in the Salon flat and the flat above Street cars currently. We also dont see Janice's flat very often but might when Miss Leanne returns assuming she moves in with Janice.

ok, flats

Audry's flat is empty, used to be occupied by Fizz and Maria
Taxi flat is occupied by Lloyd
Dev's flat, empty I think
Kabin flat is Ritas
Flat 12 is now occupied by Tina and Jason
Cafe flat is Roy and Haley
Janice's flat I used to think was above the butchers but it's not, may be above those two corry style houses opposite the builders which nobody seems to live in yet they have net curtains up Confused
Butchers flat is empty
flat above the kebab shop has been empty since Martin moved out
Bookies flat is Simon and Peter (very biblical)
Victoria court is occupied by Luke, Dev and nobody else.

it's a bit odd that from Victoria street the flats go over the road into the old warehouse, hence the bat storyline with Roy, and we see new windows in the warehouse when there is a scene on the balcony of the builder's yard. Yet when we see the warehouse from coronation street most of the windows are still bricked up Confused
(pitty, you'd get a great view of the corry set from up there)

oh, yes, last time we saw Rita's flat was briefly when she found out about Colin and Julie being his daughter Wink

Dev's flat, empty I think

Didn't Mrs Sinbad move into the flat over the Corner Shop, or was that only temporary?

The houses next to the Butchers are occupied by those people you see in the Rovers, who sit in the background Laughing

talking of the rovers extras you see them in the pub but you never see them anywhere else Confused

Reminds me of that old lady whom Lily Savage always used to make fun of: She was a regular in the Kabin, always greeted Rita and she always usually broswed through the cards; before leaving the shop furtively and not buying anything!

Dumb question: Where does Dev live now? Is it Tony's new flat development?
