I know he is leaving - what im saying is when it was announced Craig Kelly was joining the show it wasn't said he was only joining the show for 8 months to cover for Carla's leave - he was joining as a new character on a year long contract like everyone else. It was implied he would be there at least a year if not longer. Craig Kelly then quit - if he hadnt quit he would have been there after Carla returned. He also bought the factory from Carla after a few weeks which would imply Carla wasnt coming back if anything (except we know she is returning because Ali is on leave and hasnt quit)

Fair enough.

To recap my previous post, shortly after he started on Coro Craig Kelly did an interview on Loose Women where he said he'd only be around for a short while-- in the context that he was replacing Carla (with the explanation that Alison King was on maternity leave). Thus I got my information/inferences about Luke's future from that, from the horse's mouth (so to speak!)

I would be great to have Mavis back in it for a few episodes, especially that Noris is back in it full-time-- they could reminisce about "Dirk" Laughing Peter Baldwin has popped up with bit parts in a few telly dramas, he was in Doctors not so long ago I recall.

I guess their distribution is greater in the south, where EE is the more popular soap.

I personally disagree but I see what you're saying.

It was very much a guess. Why do you reckon there's an EE slant?

Nice photo Steve. Looks like a lot of space behind the factory.

I don't know, I guess it depends on the age demographic.

thanks

much better discussion than arguing about Eastenders front cover bias Rolling Eyes

there was certainly loads of space behind the factory facade considering what is there now, surprised they didn't utilise the space back then and extending Rosamund street, Now we know why we never saw round the side of the factory, there wasn't a side

saw a programme on the history of Granada studios and for a brief second it shows a pre 1982 aerial view of the studios with a space where the corry set will eventually be, and the buildings which became the graffiti club / medical centre are there so they must have been part of the bonded warehouse, the corry set area is just empty space.

one thing which has intrigued me about the new corry set is the cooling tower you see over the top of the terrace, which is now part of the studios, but must have come from an older building, so anybody know it's history and why it remained when whatever it was attached to was pulled down

here's a pic of grape street with the tower on the left, a gap where corry will eventually be built and the bonded warehouse in the background, on the right are houses where granada office are now

Interesting photo. Am I right in thinking that the road surface of Rosamund Street is now tarmac rather than cobbles? And are those tram lines in the road too?

I remember when I visited the Granada Studios Tour, the factory had just been demolished, with the other side of the street all boarded off. Seeing the big red Granada TV sign behind the set there reminds me of how there used to be the word 'GRANADA' written vertically down the edge of the front wall of the Bonded Warehouse. I thought when I saw it there that it must be awkward making sure it didn't appear in shot. After that, I do remember seeing it on screen a couple of times. I guess they removed it eventually because of this problem.

That used to be the enterance to the Corrie set for people on the Granada studios tour. When I went on the tour it was the mid 1990s so the factory was long gone.

The bonded warehouse still has Granada written on it but on the other side.

Last night's episode where Jason was drunk in the Rovers and tried it on with a couple of girls demonstrated for me that the actor (sorry, don't know his name) is actually not very good at all. I don't see any improvement in him over the years, to be honest. Has he ever been involved in any well-performed storylines over the years? Seems a bit boring to me.

The actor is Ryan Thomas. Perhaps he's not exactly Hollywood Blockbuster standard, but his acting skills are better than some who have trodden the cobbles over the years.

The character he portrays isn't supposed to be the sharpest tool in the box. He's rarely given storylines which require him to demonstrate emotional angst or complex thought processes, which perhaps makes it more difficult to make a judgement on his acting skills.

However, it could be that maybe the scriptwriters are aware of the actor's limitations and write accordingly.
