We visited Granada Studios in June or July in 1998, the day we went Coronation St was shut for filming, but one of our teacher's managed to get the bosses to change their minds and they opened the street for about half an hour. As many people wanted to go on the street, we only managed to get as far as the Rovers and couldn't go much further.

As there were many people infront I couldn't see what was going on, but I remember the same day we went was the day it was announced Kevin Kennedy (Curly) would leave the show due to his battle with alcoholism.

I still can't imagine him who plays Graham in a serious theatre role that he apparantly used to do

The mark of a good actor Wink

Yeah he used to be with Royal Shakespeare... he could've mostly played the comedy roles in the Bard's work of course!

I agree the plant-trough scenes were very funny, a great foil to Noris. A welcome distraction from the increasingly tiresome Windasses (IMO).

Thanks for that. Whenever I look for such clips on the net, I never find any... I presume those killjoys at ITV must request for their removal!

When Sally Whittaker was on Loose Women a few weeks ago, she campaigned for Sherrie "Maureen" Hewson to return. She could bag herself a toyboy there Wink

Good pics there Jez. How often do you wait outside the studios? and is it easy to get pics with the cast..?

I usually go about 3 times a year - I would go more often if I lived nearer, its too addictive! It depends on filming schedules but usually weekdays at lunchtime and between about 4pm-6pm is a good time. All depends on who is in. When I was there on Thurs they had apparently been on location in the morning and someone drove Chris Gascoyne back into the studios then he left a while later in his car.

So far ive met: Rob James Collier (3 times!), Betty Driver, Tina O Brien, Johnny Briggs, Vicky Binns, William Tarmey, Katherine Kelly, Alison King, Julia Haworth, Wendi Peters, Jack P Shepherd, Anthony Cotton, Sally Whittaker, Helen Flanagan, Craig Charles, Ben Thompson, Bev Callard, Samia Smith, Jennie McAlpine, David Neilson, Gray O Brien, Tom Hudson, Peter Armitage, Ryan Thomas, Jack Ellis, Nikki Patel, Reece Dinsdale, Phil McGinley.

Not bad in less than 3 years!

It is quite easy to get photos and autographs but it all hangs on being there at the right time- most of them are very happy to pose for photos. There are 3 that we will never get tho apparently - Eileen Derbyshire, Anne Kirkbride and Barbara Knox! Wink

that is good to know who NOT to approach, best to respect the privacy of those few who want it otherwise it could jepodise a photo shoot with other cast members. Photographing the child actors would probably not be a good idea either

thanks again for the pics Jez, now how about a campaign for a corry web cam Wink

One time I was there Antony Cotton was quite off with some fans who wanted a pic so I didnt bother approaching him, but I got his autograph the day I went in the studio audience for his show and he seemed ok that day.

One of the nicest cast members ive met is Helen Flanagan - so different to Rosie!

Btw that guy with the camera behind me on the Sally Whittaker photo was waiting to see if he could take any snaps of the cast to sell to the papers and mags. Ive seen him there a few times.

guess if the cast are in a hurry or just having a bad day they may be a little narked Mad

remember when I saw them filming whilst on the tour in 1993 and the child playing David was playing up (he was only 3) so they did the scene without him and Martin had to pretend that he was holding his hand

Something I found funny when I saw them fiming was Des Barne's car was driven onto the street by a props guy, they filmed an exchange between Des and Martin which finished with Des getting in the car, he then gets out, a prop guy gets in and drives it off the street, rather than Des doing the driving Confused

makes me wonder how often the cast actually drive their character's cars, if at all

NO!!!!

Dev has now gained a faux-indian accent with the arrival of his "uncle"

- cue Harry Hill Laughing

In fact that was a well kept secret about his uncle´s arrival! Surprised

why is his uncle so steriotypical in an 'Ain't half hot mum' sort of way?

anyway I liked the name of one of the horses in the bookies, 'She's got a reason"

I got my picture with Sally Webster when we went on the Granada Tour, we were even allowed to walk up and down the cobbles. I'm sure we also have a picture of us in front of the Duckworths front door.

Great episodes last night - a good mix of drama and humour. I especially liked Becky thinking Liz was pregnant.

And I did nearly fall off the sofa when Blanche looked at her magazine and said, "Ooh, nasty gash!" I even had to rewind and check with the subtitles on that she'd really said it. Jonathan Harvey's Gimme Gimme Gimme style very much coming out I think!

Definitely a single-entendre that one! How that one slipped through... almost as bad was Jason being asked if he was good at "tongue and groove". Rapidly moving from Janet & John (verison Wogan) territory, to Gimme Gimme as you say!!

Perhaps it's for the same reason Antony Cotton is gay in a Are You Being Served Way -- he's playing a version of himself? What Dev's excuse may be, is beyond me-- perhaps royalties from Mr Hill as suggested Laughing
