I cannot see the sense in them moving Emmerdale to Manchester - surely Emmerdale's outside set has to be a village specially for the show and it wouldnt be logical to move it to Manchester (inside scenes they could). It would make more sense to keep Leeds and close Manchester (even tho id hate that)
I also cannot see ITV selling off its biggest show. Another production company could choose to sell it to another channel- imagine Corrie on Sky One or something
So yes a huge pinch of salt......

Granada seem to have made good use of the space since the studios tours closed - the extension to the Corrie set to include Victoria Street is on the site of what was Baker Street. Also they use some of the buildings further down where the New York set used to be for Corrie - such as Davenports and the police station. They filmed Liam's murder in that area too. They also sometimes use the big warehouse building as a waiting area for studio audiences. But that is a huge building and I understand they use that for storage as well.
Currently they dont seem to make very much in Manchester with a studio audience - I e-mailed them the other day to ask and all they have currently is Countdown over in Leeds.

I think that's just the backdrop for the view under the bridge - it needs to be that big for perspective reasons.

Why is there a HUGE pictrue of a street on one of the walls at Granada? I know that they use the set as a backdrop, but this is HUGE!

I recall when Ken did the Rovers mural for the 40th anniversary, they had a flashback sequence with Ken hearing/seeing various characters from the show's past.
I think it's best if the prouducers use such techniques sparingly, otherwise it detracts from the 'realism' of the soap and gets too post-modern.
I may be wrong, but I thought that was in the Millennium episode?
You could well be right. Hard to remember since the two were close together... it was December 2000 anyway

Gosh I'm going to sound like an awful pedant, but the Millennium episode was in Janaury 2000 .

I thought that was the one where Raquel came back to see Curly and it was only those two for the whole episode.
That was shown on Sunday the 2nd January 2000, the episode shown on Saturday 1st January was the Millennium episode. One of the few times they have shown an episode of Corrie on Saturday, the other times being when Christmas Day has fallen then.

Now, I've seen some rubbish on that Digital Spew over the past few years but this is quite frankly ludicrous!
