PS: Becky did a good bit of product-placement tonight, with the huge bottle of Strongbow cider! Not much effort made to hide the logo Laughing

Just out of interest, what difference does it make whether or not they show the brand?

Just a (droll) observation: An reference back to the product-placement debate on TVF a few months back, when such things were being discussed. I'm pretty sure it was Strongbow, but I could be wrong?

Anyway I thought Beverley Callard was great last night, some lovely facial expressions when she was eavesdropping on Steve's and Lloyd's conversation. Then alternating her support between the two, when they were rowing.

I can't say I ever have much sympathy for Steve, all ego and no spine in my view (although wonderfully played by Simon Gregson). I think Lloyd and Liz would make an excellent 'odd couple'. I can't stick Jackie though, Margi Clarke is a OTT for my liking. I've actually never minded Auntie Pam (or Pam-fritter as she became last week), she has had her comic moments I think.

what's Steve problem, if my single friend fell for my single Mam I'd say good look to them Confused

That's a rather simplistic view, dontchathink? People are (usually) more complex than that.

its rather hypocritical of Steve tho to rant about his mum and Lloyd when both of them are single whilst he is having an affair behind his girlfriends back. What right has he to take the moral high ground? And the age gap between Liz and Lloyd isnt even that much as Michelle pointed out.

I do find steve a rather wet character anyway

by the way Jez, nearly at your ten thousandth post Wink

Indeed, but all of that being true, its still human nature to react badly to seeing a parent couple-up - whether with a friend or anyone else.

And I guess that's what makes good drama!

I didn't react badly when my mam remarried atfer my dad died

the general concensus on the TV is always a negative reaction to such things Confused

I'm not the best at identifying accents but it sounds like a Canadian doing the audio description during tonights episode.

It's not the fact that she was seeing somebody, it was that she was seeing his best mate.

That's nice. But your attitude to such things isn't universal.

And soaps don't tend to thrive when there's no drama.

I'm not saying my attitude is universal I'm saying that tv usually has people reacting badly to their parent having relationships

Dramas you mean?

That would be explained by my point about drama being driven by conflict.

I hope you appreciate that I do take your point about reality being different*, though.

EDIT: *I think "more varied" would be a better expression.

Kirk probabaly went on Tony's stag do because he was the brother in law of Best Man Liam. Dev probably went on Tyrone's because he is Molly's employer. it would have been nice if they had mentioned Liam tonight since he was killed on the last stag do - I still really miss Liam being in the show.

Anyway the 2nd episode was excellent especially the stuff with Jackie Dobbs!
