If so Corrie is being recorded in this house until she goes (so I can forward through scenes with her); she's like watching concentrated EastEnders - I really disliked the character first time and nothing so far has made me like her (even in a "love to hate" way).
I have to say last night's scene in which Vernon was singing his new song to Liz absolutely had me in stitches. Nothing to do with the awful Vernon, but purely for Liz's facial expressions during it, which were absolutely priceless.
It was quite a lengthy scene which could have dragged, but top marks to Bev Callard for some wonderful non-speaking acting, and to the producers for having the nerve, and the foresight that it could work so well. Corrie Gold!
On a slightly less positive note, where in the name of bloody hell did they get the actress who plays Nina? She is so, so unbelievably wooden and awful that I thought for a moment that Laurence Olivier was playing Dev. Did she come from the same acting agency that they got Lauren from?
The Vernon singing scene was inspired. He had a decent voice too. Best thing about the episodes.
The slow lingering demise of the Mortons is becoming painful, just write them out quickly and give Tony more screen time. He's the most interesting character at the moment, along with Tina.
I loved Vernon's singing scene - a really unusual and brave approach at a soap scene! It had me in stitches - the only thing that saved the show from the zzzz of the Mortons and as for Nina... My partner also said that she must only be there to make Dev look good....
And I'm still getting over that shot of Nina from under Dev's leg in one of last week's episodes.. blurgh....
I thought the Vernon singing scene was awful personally and was just filler for the second episode.
Ah well, each to their own.
I also actually quite enjoyed Vernon's singing, very amusing-- I say it was scrig (So CR*p It's Good).
Yes it was awful-- but wasn't that the whole point? I feel we were supposed derive humour from the fact Vernon's song was so dire (and Liz's response thereof) Vernon being an 'idiot genius', if you like.
It appears the 'intended' effect was only a partial success, judging by the response on this board
Nothing ironic about Harvey Verdi's poor acting though !
